Hi,

Has anyone of you have renewed their Philippine passport here in the US. The Philippine embassy nearest to my state is in San Francisco. I would like to ask what are the requirements and your experience?

Thank you!

Many people have used either the PI Embassy or the outreach program. Both processes are listed at the Embassy website. It's a very easy task.

My wife renewed her passport through an outreach event for the LA consulate,  all the requirements are listed on the consulate website for your area

Please follow the link below for the San Francisco Consulate. Have you already completed ROM or are you going to do that at all?

My wife just renewed her passport and also updated it to her married name through the Chicago Consulate Outreach, was very easy, cost $60 and she had new passport in hand within 3 weeks, the requirements/info is all available on the consulate website

I already have my name changed to my husband's surname on my passport before we applied for CR1. It seems I only need the epassport photocopies and original.

Thank you for the information!

That's good to know. You need the passport photocopies, original passport(unless you like paying $100 extra), and your birth certificate. If you don't have your BC then you can go to ecensus to get it sent to you. The current timeline is about 3-12 weeks. My wife did hers at the end of April and just got it back last week.

Did you received the passport by mail? We will be driving to san francisco this november to renew my passport. I have an original copy of my birth certificate. I ordered multiple copies of birth and marriage certificate from ecensus before moving here. Gotta be prepared! Though, I think I only one original copy of birth certificate left and will order later when I visit Philippines.

Thank you so much for all the help!

Yeah we actually received it last week in fact. There was an issue because we moved cross country from CA to NC and some how lost my wife's old Philippine passport. So I took the copies I had of the passport page to the consular outreach in Raleigh and they charged my wife an additional $150 on top of the $60 for the passport due to a "lost passport fee". @Greenbaum did the VA Beach Outreach a couple days before us and it took I think 4 weeks to get it back.

Make sure you bring a self address USPS Priority Envelope with postage paid so that they can mail it back to you.
