You can actually do a early walkin for your biometrics appointment. My date was 03/29/2019 but I did a early walkin on 03/20/2019 and there were no questions asked. Got done with the biometrics within 20 mins. My center was in Houston TX.

Yes there's no harm trying. I actually went for early walkin after being suggested by others on this forum and it's not just Houston where people have tried going for early walkins. I would suggest try first time tomorrow morning and if it doesn't work then reschedule it. I am pretty sure there wont be any problems.

I'm sure it will be fine if you do a walk in explaining you won't be able to come on the day it was scheduled so you come early.

I've seen several people do walk in and it's just fine. Go and see.

Good luck.

So my questions to you guys is:

  • Should I call another 2nd tier officer for another confirmation?
  • Should I email USCIS so that I have a record that I notice them and I did what I could to inform USCIS about my divorce?
  • How do I know if the officer made his/her decision based on my additional documents (aka divorce decree) or they made decision without that?
  • How can I explain to USCIS later when I apply for Citizenship if they ask of course?

Many thanks!

I am so sorry to hear you are going over divorce.

1) It may be helpful or may be not. Just because 2nd tier officer tell you that the knowledge they have at this point (that USCIS received divorce decree, but adjudicating officer may not) mean that you are not gonna be in trouble. Later on it depends on your N400 officer's discretion and his/her background or feeling on the interview date. In other words, it is useless to me cost-effectiveness (unless you have a written confirmation that USCIS received the divorce decree, and adjudicating officer reviewed the decree and made decision, which they don't provide. At the end of day, it may be helpful to gather more info, but it won't give you solid answer.

2) USCIS email front desk team may tell you something, but that does not necessarily mean that adjudicating officer reviewed the divorce decree. So like 1), it can be helpful in that you obtained information of their practices in general, but it doesn't really tell your specific case. But I think at least having traceable document from USCIS sounds much better than just phone conversation that won't be supported evidence. Please note USCIS has very precarious practices on each officer and personnel that basically everything differs and they are very reluctant to give definite answers to any questions, but general question.

3) By submitting divorce decree, have you switched to divorce waiver because you no longer are eligible for joint waiver since you are legally divorced now? You can request FOIA before N400, and will be able to tell your I 751 was approved with divorce waiver. If so, you can tell your divorce decree was taken into account. If you see approval stamp on joint filing, then it is likely that your I 751 approval was based on the joint filling that you initially submitted.

4) Similiar to 3), if your I 751 was approved on joint filing, there isn't much thing you can do. You can explain what happened (which is why your email communication comes into handy play), but it is up to N400 interviewing officer's discretion. Since every officer is different, it is impossible to predict how your N400 will be. But at the end of day, you can expect it is 50/50 chances...

If I were you, I would reach out to your  Senator's or representative's immigration specialist. By using the congressmen or women, you have 3rd party involved, whose records will definitely have much better credibility, and therefore if adverse action is to be taken during your N400 journey, you can always have that congressmen or women's office involved, meaning that even when you provided all materials, USCIS's failure to recognize your divorce was not your fault, and therefore it is USCIS's liability on this discrepant information that they made decision on, not on you

Additionally, I would recommend Senator's office rather than Representative, whose term is limited, and you don't want that Representative no longer in membership of Congress when your time frame for N400 is available, and if your divorce decree is issues, you don't want that he/she is no longer serving the Congress. So generally, Senator's office will work better (and plus their tenancy is better than Representative because it is not easy to defeat incumbent Senator, whereas representative in the House can be easily changed). But on the mean time, do some research on your State's Senator to Federal Congress to determine if he/she might resign or declare no longer running for the senatorship. I guess it really depends on your location that we don't know

Welcome to USA, Land of freedom, and best luck.

Vermont July 2018 filer here. No update since August 2018 when biometrics done. Radio silence since then. It seems mostly CSC filers are getting green cards, new biometric requests and transfers.

I got a text Wednesday 19th to say they had requested my card, then on Friday 21st that my card had been produced, Monday 24th that they had sent it. Originally USPS said they would deliver today, but they super-charged their vans, and delivered it last night.
So, about a week?

Thank you very much for your response! I was legally divorced about 1.5 months before the decision was made so it’s the right thing to switch to divorce waiver. I also asked another member and she suggested me to schedule an appointment with a local officer to talk about this. I will bring my divorce package that identical to what I sent in May to switch to divorce waiver. Hopefully local officer can check to see on which ground that my card was procuded from. If they actually recieved my divorce paper, that’s great! If not, I guess we will figure it out right there and they would need to change in the system or however it work for them.

I will update when this gets resolved so if others run into the same problem, they can choose what to do next.

Thanks!
