The two year time frame is determined by the date USCIS receives your petition. For example, if your I-129F was received July 1, 2007 then USCIS requires evidence that you both met in person between July 1, 2005 - June 30, 2007. Refer to the VJ guides for ideas/suggestions about compelling evidence.

USCIS guidelines state that the beneficiary and petitioner must meet in the two years prior to submission of the application. How is that two year time frame determined? Is it from the date of the NOA1, the postmark date, or some other date altogether?

MM and MS, I don't think that date has been formally established in writing or in the guides, hence this discussion. USCIS staff never gave official information when asked. We shall see what happens.

Oh, and I had another touch!!! We are getting close to a decision!

I am very pleased to report that my application HAS BEEN APPROVED!!!!! I called USCIS earlier this afternoon and dialed through to the RFE line, inquiring about all of the touches and the turnaround time for a definite response. The very friendly officer on the phone checked the records and said I was approved! I said "Are you serious?" which in retrospect was probably not the smartest thing to say, and she said "yes, you were approved on Monday June 4." Of course, at that point, the happy tears started and I could hardly make the pleasant small talk that closed the conversation.

Prayers, positive energy, and good wishes really worked. Now on to NVC, I guess!

Congrats! So glad this worked out for you! On to the State Department now! Yea!!!!!!!

Here are some helpful numbers to have on hand for your next steps:

NQUIRING ABOUT CASE NUMBER:

NVC Info (to find out when your case arrives/leaves there and to get NVC Case number):

Call (603) 334-0700 - press "1" for English then "5" to speak to a rep on the phone. Be ready with USCIS case number, beneficiary name and birthdate. Thanks for all of your support and the valuable numbers for the next steps! I heart VisaJourney!

It's funny - while looking back at my paperwork, I realized that I never sent the originals of Meowboy's letter of intent and g325a forms! I rushed to mail the packet by the deadline, so I had to use scanned copies. His original documents didn't arrive from Australia until after I mailed the packet. I expected to get a RFE for this as well, but we never did!

We are certainly lucky ducks...
