Hi everyone,

I don’t ever post in here but I read things almost everyday 😊

last night my passport (Canadian) went through the wash. I know it’s stupid, but since I use it every week it’s surprising it hasn’t happened already.

Since it it is damaged, I will need to apply for a new one. With a new application comes a new passport number. So my question is, how do I update the I-130 application? Part 4 question 47 of the I 130 is your passport number. Will it matter if this changes before they review our case? Can I update it?

thanks in advance!

Hello,

No worries, as this is a somewhat expected scenario, think what would have happened if your passport expired, instead of being damaged. Once your case is approved and sent to the NVC, you'll send a copy of the picture/biographic page to the NVC along with other needed documents. You're fine, don't worry :)

Don't update USCIS.  Use the new passport number once you get to NVC.
