Well....isn't he a candidate for gastric bypass? I mean, I hate it that he's so big (wow) but it sounds like to me that he would benefit from this surgery so much. Just the health issues alone would qualify him.

He would definitely be a candidate, but he lives somewhere in Latin America....not sure if gastric bypass is performed there. I don't know that there is a feasible way to transport him to a place where the surgery is performed, if there is nobody available in the city/town he lives in. It is quite sad....there is definitely a point where one has to acknowledge responsibility for allowing themselves to reach that point. The following excuses: "I'm a little overweight" or "I'm big-boned" or even "I've got a health problem that has resulted in me being this overweight" are not applicable here. I must agree w/ previous poster(s) who said How do you allow yourself to get that obese? Its just.....sad! :(

I don't think they could operate on him when he is that big. The risks would be too high. Gastric bypass surgery has one of the highest risk factors of any surgery, so to operate on someone who was 750lbs is just an accident waiting to happen.

Personally, I think his girlfriend wants to "save" him. You see some women who shack up with alcoholics and drug addicts over and over again, simply because they think they can save them from themselves. I think she is the same, but with an obese person instead.

I think that's entirely true here. Her first husband died of a heart attack due to his overweight condition (right?) and it does appear she wants to save this guy from the same fate.

Yeah, I guess I can see how this surgery would be extremely high risk for someone his size. *sigh* I can't imagine being so big. I do feel bad for him.

a team of doctors begged him to get the surgery but he wanted to try the dieting first. but according to the show his dieting has hit a bit of a plateau and he is considering the gastric bypass now. i hope he does it.

steven, you're right. i was angry at the show watching his mom prepare him huge quantities of fattening mexican food!!!!!!!! (she was kind of a fatty herself) i think she is hugely responsible for his weight... especially at the point when he could no longer walk.

he weighs 750 now, but is not able to walk because those are NOT his balls (hahaha doodle)...they are HUGE like 300lb tumors on his legs. :( he had them removed once before and they grew back even bigger. i don't know why those aren't removed yet! i think he'd end up weighing 400 lbs after all that is gone! lol

he has a nurse come and wash him a few times a week. i almost barfed while watching the nurse clean him. poor guy.

glad he has someone who loves him. he seemed like such a positive guy for someone in such terrible health.

I've seen a show about this guy. Apparently, his obesity hasn't been cause just by overeating - there has to be some genetic problem that contributed to it.
