Soooo after a year and half Of stress and worry ! I have finally been granted my immigrant cr1 visa !!! I was so pleased and excited as I haven't seen my husband for 8 months !

I just have one last thing i need to ask .. I was reading that despite having my visa, I can still be stopped at the boarder and it's the boarder controls decisions if I am actually allowed in or not despite waiting all this time and paying out all this money ....  whilst that's is the way it goes and I expected that it's lame thatbis the case and I am still scared that may happen !

What I wanted to ask was regarding my flight ... I will obviously be going there to stay and I was hoping I am able to book a one way flight ! If I do this they can they stop me at the boarder for this reason ? BeCause I am obviously not planning to come home any time soon ! Hence the reason I got my visa ...

thanks for all your advice and support over my tone of applyong applying for the visa :)

Well I want to be the first to tell you Congratulations on the visa. Now on to the matter of getting into the USA through the POE.

Yes, you are correct a Non-USC can be stopped and turned away at the POE to the USA. But for instances like K1 and Cr-1 visas it is really rare for anyone to be turned away at the border. Since you are immigrating to the USA it is perfectly fine to have a one way flight to the USA because you are going there to be with your SO. It is also fine to have a round trip ticket as well because in some instances those may be cheaper than a one way ticket.

When you enter on your spouse visa, they won't even ask if you have a return ticket.  You are not a tourist.

Just to be clear, even after you have your green card, each entry to the US is a separate decision at the Port of Entry.  You have appropriate documentation, not ever a guaranteed entry until you are a US citizen.  This applies to all border crossings by anybody, anywhere.

Facts are cheap...knowing how to use them is precious...
Understanding the big picture is priceless. Anonymous

Of course I understand that I mean I have traveled a lot and realise this is the case either way for everyone
