Hi all,

 

i am hoping someone with the the same situation can help clarify.

 

my wife had her interview for IR1 visa April 9, and was told that her visa is approved and she should wait for aramex to calm her the visa pickup. All sound good till I checked the case status on CEAC and it says "Administrative processing " I've read many stories on the internet that AP can take up to 60 days and many horror stories about it. I  am hoping that is not our case . Can anybody help with some answers?

Hate to tell you, but some people are in AP for a year plus. There is no 60 day cutoff, it will take as long as it takes. Most are done within 60.

If the interview went well and they kept her passport, the AP could change to 'issued' soon. All visas go through some AP in order for them to assemble and print the visa. Usually this only lasts a few days. However as mentioned above, some have been stuck in AP for many months, though usually if you get a clear approval it's rare for AP to last that long.

No time limit, women used to get it easier it seemed but that seems to have change after the incident in  California.

usually the ones going over 60 days in AP are for men and they do an additional background to see travel outside Morocco 

but AP, now,  is normal to give them time to process the packet and visa 

BTW tell her not to open that packet / if for any reason the embassy has put the passport  in the packet she needs to call embassy so they can get passport out and reseal the packet

and our case never said AP on CEAC site but they were slow to update from ready for interview to issued 

maybe now they are updating faster/computers as Casa embassy use to go down a lot

i hope you checked the box for USCIS to process her SS card as that is also faster if they do it
