Hey, thank you. 

 

I just returned from the office. There is a mix of feelings. I still cant believe its almost over. 

 

The interview was scheduled at 10:05am, My husband and I arrived there at 9:20am, there was a big line outside of the Los Angeles Federal building. We were just able to get in 9:55am. We checked in and awaited more than 2 hours to be called by the officer. 

The officer seemed new and inexperienced. He started with the 10 history and government questions. 

- One war in 1990s

- Who is the father of out country

- Who is the Chief Justice

- Who was the first President

- How many members has US House of Representative. 

- What month we vote for President

Then after all correct answers, he started the reading and writing test. 

He went over all the application confirming all the filled fields. Then yes or no questions. The supervisor got in the room to help the officer and requested me evidence of marriage that i gave the tax return last 3 years, phone bills with both names, SCE bill, Rent lease. He asked for pictures together and tickets proving travels together that I had. 

In the end of interview he said I passed on the tests but the decision couldn't be made because of the pending I751. My husband was outside on awaiting room but he wasn't allowed to join me in the interview as it wasn't a combo interview. 

 

Even i knew this could happen is kind of frustrating being waiting again a action from USCIS, but i am relieved the interview is done. Patience is the key. 

God is with us. I will keep you all updated regarding the next movements on my process.

Hey everyone! I had my interview on Monday and it was similar to @Husbandandwife's experience. The officer was friendly but we spent most of the time going through the paperwork and updating my pending I-751. A lot has changed since I filed it almost 2 years ago and although I submitted new documents with N400 they do not automatically transfer. I answered the first 6 questions correctly and passed the English test. She gave me a paper for the Oath saying that I don't have my green card and another document stating that the decision couldn't be made yet. She said it would take approx 30-60 days. I'm happy this is over but was hoping I could get my oath notice sooner.

THank you for sharing your experience, did they ask you for your US citizen spouses's birth certificate or will the passport suffice ? We don't have my wife's birth certificate and was wondering if we had to get a copy via VitalCheck

THank you for sharing your experience, did they ask you for your US citizen spouses's birth certificate or will the passport suffice ? We don't have my wife's birth certificate and was wondering if we had to get a copy via VitalCheck

I suspect each immigration officer will do different things so if you have the time to get a copy from VitalCheck I would.  Better safe than sorry since it's mentioned in the notice you received. 

 

My husband did have to produce my birth certificate to prove my citizenship.  Unsure if a passport would have sufficed.   

 

BTW, when my husband came out after the interview, the officer pointed to me in the waiting room and asked hubby if I was his wife.  He said yes and she came over and asked to see my driver's license to verify.  That was not expected.

I was expecting the officer request my husband’s birth certificate or passport, but he didn’t request any of it. He just made me to swear all the documents that I uploaded in the website wasn’t fake. 

 

But I agree with the opinion above. Each immigration officer is different, if you can get a copy front VitalCheck just do it. Is better be safe than sorry. I wish you all the best.

That's interesting, are you a natural  born citizen(jus soli) or did you naturalize and obtain your citizenship ? We will place an order online tonight when my wife is back from work, it's better safe than to be sorry !

Hello @TMDM

I think now you are already a US Citizen and I am on that excited phase after N400 interview awating until they change the status on website. I’m so anxious and nervous. 

My experience in the interview was really similar to yours. I passed on the tests but they gave me a paper saying the decision could be make because the pending I751. 

Today (3 days after the interview) they updated my I751 to “new card is being produced” and I’m still awating for any moviment on my N400. 

Question: when you received the RFE you just uploaded your more documents online ? How long it take to approve your N400 the receive the oath letter? I just need a refresh and be calm because this whole process is kidding me.

Hi! My husband is a naturalized citizen so they asked for his Naturalization Certificate which I brought with me.

I have a pending I-751 and N400. I just got a notice in the letter today saying that my I-751 is transferred to National Benefits Center, MO. I'm confused😀 I thought after the interview it's just going to stay in Sacramento. Has anyone else received something similar in the mail?

My husband also got the notice that the file was transferred. He also has a pending I751 and N400. 

 

When this occurs they they are combining the two cases so that they can ready and complete the cases. The website anticipates his completion to be March/April, but when he went to the local office, to get yet another stamp in his passport, the IO told him it could take as long as June before approval.

 

We we don’t really believe that statement because the IO was just saying a date... he wasn’t looking  on the computer. Really he should of just kept is remark to himself because throwing out guesses isn’t helpful. 

 

Hopefully we all hear something soon. The good news is your cases have movement. Good luck!

Got it, We went ahead and ordered it. It cost around 53$ with shipping. Thank you
