Sorry should have been more clear - I meant the 4-6 month data points you were referring to of actual people's times in getting an interview.

Oh that was just in my AOS threads from Feb and March 2017. the vast majority from LA had their interviews within 6 months. The ones that had their interview waived took a lot longer.. so i would always hope for an interview in LA

I'd follow the data here on VJ to be honest as it always seemed the most accurate to me.... I feel like this new processing time table wants to prevent that people keep on bugging USCIS with the excuse "hey it says online that you are currently processing cases from the date XY but you received my cases two weeks prior to that date. How is that possible?"

I know I dont get it. My local office on the old website had about a 6 month processing time so pretty good. And as of February 10 my interview has been scheduled for May 1. (yay!). Went to check the processing times just for fun and they they are going back to 2016. How does it go from 6 months to over a year overnight.

Yes it happens sometimes. As of October only K1 visas still can have their interview waived (before also AOS from E visas could get waived). Around 50% of them still get waived. There are different reasons it can get waived. Mainly it seems to be whether your local field office is backlogged or not and whether they have already reached their quarterly number of K1 visa interview applications that they have to process at the local field office. Also depends whether your case might have any red flags.

Up to 20 months for Brooklyn. Wow. Question: If you get your interview 20 months later, and let's say 21 months after getting married. Wouldn't it be better to reschedule the interview so you just hit the 2-year mark for an unconditional GC? I mean at that point EAD/AP needs to get extended already, Medical needs to be re-done and so on. Aiiiaia. I hope we don't have to wait that long, but if it does take 20 months might as well just get the unconditional one.

Right. In some instances, at the end of the interview, the ISO has given couples the option to return on the date of their 2nd year anniversary to get their 10 year card approval. That makes absolute sense to me. If you've waited that long and are 1 month or 2 from the 2 year mark, well, it would suck to then have to wait another 2 years to file for removal of conditions. Nowadays, processing times for I-751s are way out of hand, and people end up applying for citizenship which in turn speeds up adjudication of your I-751.

Haha, you're welcome! You know, the "case inquiry date" updates every day but I have not noticed any changes on the actual processing times. I feel for you. I thought my case had gotten to the "Case is ready to be scheduled for interview" stage in an all time record of 39 days. But I just took another look at your timeline and yours got to that stage in 29 days. It's frustrating. All that effort we put into filing an error-free package - only to have to wait 14.5 months.

Ah interesting. I mean it would totally make sense. Would unclog the system a bit too. If you're already married in good faith for almost 2 years, might as well just make it a little less complicated for everyone.

What they really need to do is skip EAD/AP processing and go straight to GC interviews. That way, they could re-allocate all that human-power into pre-adjudicating applications for field offices. It seems like some field offices are doing that already. Someone on another site just got her GC approved within 96 days. Washington Field Office.

So, my office, Phoenix, is in 79th place... "awesome." It makes sense, since I filed my AOS on April, 2017. 

 

One positive side of it is that I saw a person that filed from Oakland Park, Fl, and it took her 16 months to get an interview letter. So in her case it was pretty accurate.
