Letter of Intent to marry : signature question

Hello,

I couldn't find any recent posts on this so here I go. I want to provide a letter of intent to marry from myself and my fiance. I know that it must be signed by both parties.

My question is: Can my fiance type the letter, sign it, scan it, and send it to me electronically?  Will a "scanned" letter cause them to send an RFE ?

OR

Does he need to sign it and mail it to me?

Has anyone submitted  a letter that was sent to them electronically and did receive an RFE ?

I believe with those they want wet signatures, meaning no copies or scans.  You can always try it, but with the RFE levels being as high as they are right now I wouldn't chance it.

11/14/17 129F mailed

11/17/17 NOA1

05/14/18 NOA2

06/06/18 NVC received and case # assigned

06/12/18 left NVC

06/13/18 Manila Embassy received

06/13/18 CFO completed at Clark Pampanga

06/18-19/18 Medical exam

07/10/18 Interview - APPROVED!!

07/29/18 POE

It's fine for the beneficiary to print, sign, scan, and send it to the petitioner to print and send. They stopped issuing RFEs for this years ago. The letters are not the actual requirement....they're supporting evidence to show that you meet the requirements of 1) being free to marry and 2) intending to marry within 90 days of entry on the K-1 visa. Supporting evidence does not need wet signatures.

Edit: Here's the latest updated policy on signatures from USCIS: https://www.uscis.gov/news/news-releases/uscis-finalizes-guidance-signature-requirements

This definitely makes me feel better ! Did you send a letter that was scanned or one that had a wet signature?

That's exactly what I was looking for ! Thank you so much !!!

After looking at the link you gave me, this is what I read:

"A signature is valid even if the original signature is later photocopied, scanned, faxed, or similarly reproduced."
