AOS, AED Biometric ID requirement

Hi All

 

My Vietnamese wife will go to her biometrics appointment at a local USCIS Application Support Center.   The appointment letter says to bring a "picture ID".   She was married last month and her surname changed to husband's surname.  Her only form of ID she has is her Vietnamese passport with her maiden name.  Will her Vietnamese passport and certified copy of the Marriage certificate can be used to meet the photo ID requirement for the biometrics appointment?

 

My understanding is that the Vietnamese embassy will only will note her name change in the passport and still show her maiden name on the Bio page of the passport.  I have not done the name update on her Vietnamese passport.  Should I do this so it can be used as a form of ID to show at the biometrics appointment?

Just tell her to bring her passport and the biometrics letter with her. That is what my wife did and we had no problems.

They asked me my marriage certificate, so you should bring your marriage certificate in addition to passport, just in case.

02/06/2021: Filed and package sent

02/10/2021: Received by USCIS

03/18/2021: NOA 1

07/01/2021: Biometrics waived

09/27/2011: Case approved, no interview (K1 visa)
