Do you have a long way to drive so that he really needs to take the entire day off? :(

It's 3 hrs one way from home, but maybe a little closer from his work.    I will ask them if he can take off early if Monday is unsucessful, but he'd still have to leave by 10 or so.

I know that a lot of people are successful in getting a drop in bio but what if that fails and he can't go the next day? There won't be enough time to send in the bio paper for rescheduling.

Thank you "Unidentified" . Hopefully everything is okay... :)

By the way, I actually started worrying about my status because I need to visit Korea very soon because of my health document for here hospital treatment...

So, anyone knows if no finger print but with my expired green card/ extension letter/ passport I am still okay to travel?

It looks like most of the people travel after their finger print.  So I just wonder. Well,,, I actually worry now.

I can send off Thursday morning if they deny him leaving early, at this point I'm worried they'd not get the letter on time.   Couldn't they take the letter for rescheduling there on Monday if we can't be seen?

Is the return address on the biometrics appointment the same as the place he's going to go leave his fingerprints? I am not sure if that's going to work or not.

Farrieress if you are going to do a walk in, it reall all depends on the person at the desk when you walk in. If you are really nice ( it seems like they have little patience) and explain your situation ( 3 hours away, and financially it will cost both of you 2 days of work) they might let u in since it’s only a day different from the actual appointment. Hopefully you have a nice person that will understand

good luck with wathever you chose to do :)

I guess we will have to really press the need to go then.  I think I'm too late to reschedule.

That's a good news!

I am still waiting for finger print letter. Also, I cannot check my case status because of invalid receipt#.

I just hope nothing is wrong.

Me too, invalid receipt, still waiting for biometric letter.

let hang in there.

I suddenly couldn't stay still so I called  the USCIS customer service  and talked to the staff a few min ago.

In my case, it's been 44days since the receipt letter and I didn't receive Biometric letter yet.

So the staff updated my case to their requesting system(?) or something.

And the staff said it would take 15 to 17 days to send reply to me.

I don't think, this will hurt...

So, if you would like to check like me, maybe you should try to talk to customer service.

and Yes, let's hang in there. We will have a good news at the end. :)

I remember when we went to our AoS interview, after we were approved she let us know a bit about the process for RoC. She stated that in general, 95% of RoC cases don't require interviews if you have sufficient information available.  Based on how much info most people have submitted, I don't think there will be very many interviews to worry about.  Plus with the massive timeline between fingerprints and getting to the cases, it'll be faster to do the N-400 after your 3 year mark and gain citizenship so nobody has to worry about long delays from USCIS again.

It's awesome that so many VSC filers are getting their appointment letters! I'm happy for you guys :)

I was browsing on the December 2017 and January 2018 filer threads and what I'm really struck by is how suddenly the biometric letters just cut off. CSC was actually sending them out really quickly at the beginning of December, but it gets to around 12/20 and they just stop. Not a single January filer has received one either. Some of the December CSC filers were saying they'd received notification that their cases have been transferred, so I'm wondering if at this point, CSC isn't processing cases at all, and is just working on transferring them because of their backlog.

Hey, I have to fill my time with some kind of idle speculation during this 17.5 to 19 month wait, right? ;)

I just did exactly the same thing as you did - checked January 2018 and December 2017 cases and noticed the same pattern, then came here and saw your post lol. My speculation is that there is now a faster processing time for people who apply for political asylum and I wonder if this is slowing down the rest of the cases

I talked to my husband's employer and was informed that since they take DOD contracts, they have to verify that he has a current status.  I had the extension letter with me, and I told them I was just trying to avoid future hassles.  Looks like we will have to get the stamp for sure when the time comes and do this all again.

I have to wait on the representative over his section to call me so I can find out about him attending his biometrics appt.

Hey EJL,

You should be ok if you travel with your expired green card, extension letter and passport. The only reason why people prefer to travel after their biometrics appointment is because rescheduling it can delay the green card process.

All pretty quiet in here. I've not had to update our tracking table since the start of the week which is kinda disappointing. -_-

I see from my USPS informed delivery that I have a letter from USCIS that is coming today. It's hard to make out the senders zip code but from what I can make out it looks to be from the Kansas City, Missouri field office. I don't want to start too much speculation, so will wait until it drops in the mailbox before reporting back. It was stamped on 3/27. Would seem odd to me to be a biometrics appointment when others haven't had theirs unless California has cleared their backlog in one swoop. Stay tuned!
