Expedite due to child support?

Hello all,

 

I am wondering if you all think it would be a possibility to expedite EAD due to the applicants child support and have that be like a "financial loss" to me as the petitioner? My husband petitioned to have his  child support lessened before he came here but the Chilean government didn't care and now I am having to pay for it. 

 

Please no extra opinions (as I know sometimes child support things can get heated quickly) on our situation, only on the question at hand.

The US government won't care that you have to pay the child support and probably will not think that it is a sufficient reason for a expedite in all honesty.

No problem with asking even though we hate hearing the truth. You can always try and see what happens.

It could get worse. If the ex gets a savvy attorney, she could ask for even MORE child support, because your income can now be counted as marital assets, since Wisconsin is one of the 9 US States that have community property laws in place. Tread carefully with the ex.

Oh its not, but if its not paid the country goes after my mother in law for the payments and she makes off of her retirement a whopping $100 a month.

They live in my hubby's country not in the Unites States, thank goodness! She's already tried that anyway.

Trust me I have been there as well in regards to paying child support and it ain't fun at all. Luckily I have custody of the kids now so I don't have to deal with that. But what's funny is my x-wife doesn't pay anything in regards to child support at all which I might just bring that up this weekend when comes to pick up the kids.

You absolutely should if you have custody of the children! We are somewhat lucky and somewhat unlucky. My husband is legally obligated to pay 40% of the Chilean minimum wage income which gets adjusted every January and July, but that equates to 100%, if not more, of the child's financial needs. We are lucky though because it will never go up from the 40% regardless of where he or I live or what we make.

I was in contact yesterday with my congressman who helped us through our K1 journey, I asked her what she thought about this and we will see what she says! We currently live with my parents and not sure where we would be if it weren't for them (my student loans are pretty close to what a mortgage payment would be!). Figured it wouldn't hurt to ask her while I had her responding to my other emails.

I did and my mother co-sponsored. I make over the required amount to sponsor him alone but due to student loans a majority of my income goes towards them so I figured I would send in a co-sponsor just in case.
