Morning All, hoping those with experience can help.

I have my interview at the US Embassy on Thursday 11th February.

Should I receive a 'YES', I am planning to fly out on Tuesday 20th February.

Am I pushing my luck with the time required for the visa to be processed and returned to me?

Tim

The short answer is, yes. It's a gamble with no guarantees. The website for the UK Embassy says 7-10 working days for your application to be processed. You must also keep in mind this says working days.

I concur - the short answer is yes. If you haven't already booked your ticket, hold off for now. You may get lucky and have your passport and visa in hand after 8 days like I did, but there's never any kind of guarantee with this process. Unfortunately, there's a reason why they keep telling you every step of the way... don't make any bookings or reservations until you have everything you need and have made sure it's all correct.

01/18/17 - I-129F mailed to Lewisville, TX

01/25/17 - NOA1

05/05/17 - NOA2 (100 days from NOA1)

05/19/17 - NVC received and case number assigned

05/26/17 - Case left NVC, status 'In Transit'

05/30/17 - Medical

05/31/17 - Consulate received

07/13/17 - Interview, APPROVED!

07/21/17 - Visa in hand

07/22/17 - POE Newark, successful

08/02/17 - Married

08/23/17 - AOS filed (incl. EAD and AP)

08/31/17 - NOA1 date on AOS packet

09/21/17 - Biometrics appt

10/16/17 - Online tracker says 'Ready for Interview'

11/09/17 - EAD and AP approved

11/16/17 - EAD/AP combo card arrived

12/19/17 - Green card interview

12/22/17 - RFE received (medical had been lost)

01/23/18 - Green card in production

Many people here on VJ have booked flights, etc before having their visa in hand only to find themselves having to forfeit their hard earned money due to administrative processing, mistakes on the visa, and other problems......be careful...

I personally wouldn't book a flight that close unless you can reschedule without it costing a fortune, even if your visa is produced and issued in good time things can still go wrong - the courier lost my package in the depot...

Everything crossed for a smooth and stress free journey

February 11 is a Sunday.   You are pushing your luck if you book any flights prior to having your visa in hand or at least the status of "issued".  Hearing the words "approved" at the interview does not mean it's a done deal.

Well my fiancé’s interview went well and he was approved pending his medical. Which is extremely frustrating because his medical was eight days ago.

The embassy told him 2 to 3 weeks for the medical and then another 10 days for processing.

I’m thrilled that the visa was approved but I simply don’t understand the 2 to 3 weeks from Knightsbridge when they specifically state five days on their website.

Is that a total of eight days or eight working days?

He can ring Knightsbridge and ask what day it was dispatched to the embassy.

When his status says "issued" it's a done deal. They may or may not get back to his case to review the medical and move it on for a few days or even a week. Had the medical been in his file, it would have gone on to the next steps immediately. Now it's kinda in the "to do" pile when the officer isn't busy with each day's interviews, if that makes sense. Hard to put a time frame on when he will go back to your case because you kinda got out of the normal flow.
