Help!

My partner and I just want to be together, and I am incredibly overwhelmed with this process. A little background -- I am from the US, and he is from New Zealand -- both 30 years old. We want to live together in the states (currently we are both in NZ)

Would it be better to get married here in NZ and apply for the CR1 or K3? Or would it be better to apply for the K1 after we send in the I-129f? Which process is quicker?

ALSO-- sidenote -- he also has UK citizenship and a work visa for Canada.

Could we potentially file the K1, and both live in the states for the three months he is allowed to be in the states and then if approved-- can he be working in Canada and do his interview process there? (Instead of flying all the way back to NZ for the end of the process?)

Forgive me if any of this is wrong, I'm still trying to wrap my head around all the information I've read in the past few weeks.

Thank you for all your help!

Taylor

My understanding is that you can do your interview in another country if you have legally resided there for 6 months prior to the interview, so your above scenario probably would not work.

Thank You for the reply @dentsflogged--- So - If we apply now and he starts working in Canada in the next couple of months-- would he be able to interview there once it's approved? (Which could take likely more than 6 months, right?)
