When applying for the AOS/Green card/EOS for my wife who is a K-1, what is the process ? I was under the impression initially I send the 1-485 and the filing fee and then much later go in to an interview. Or do we have to interview at the same time as we apply ? I was the one who asked if I could apply for my wife separately from my new stepdaughter and got conflicting answers if I had to apply for them both together or at the same time. And do we have any say so as to where we interview ? We are much much closer to New Orleans, but I'm hearing now we may be required to go to Atlanta which is over twice as far away. Any answers to my questions would be greatly appreciated.

Sometimes you don't get an interview. It's random. You apply and later you'll get either an approval automatically or an interview.

Also, apply for EAD and AP when you apply for AOS, it's the same cost and you can work earlier.

As to your location it's

based upon your state and they'll

 set the appointment.

I'm not sure about the stepdaughter, but someone on here I'm sure will chime in in regards to that.

I'd suggest reading the guides on here. They'll help a lot.

Where are you? New Orleans office covers southern Mississippi and Montgomery covers most of Alabama. You can find what USCIS considers your local office at https://www.uscis.gov/about-us/find-uscis-office/field-offices.

Thank God. I had a bunch of foreign women here say I absolutely had to drive to Atlanta, which is 6 hours as opposed to Montgomery which is only 2 hours. And thanks for all the info guys its greatly appreciated. All I can do is hope for the best and hopefully we dont need an interview when I apply for AOS/EAD.
