I'm trying to get a US Passport what will I need

My Father became a Citizen in 1998 I was living with him I became a Permanent resident in 2001 at the age of 13 does that make me a US Citizen because my green card is expired and someone told me that I can go and get a US Passport but I would need to take my Father's Certificate of Citizenship my expired green card according to them I became an automatic citizen in 2001 since I was under 18 can any one help

You became a US citizen on the day that all of the following became true:

 

(i) you are a permanent resident

 

(ii) you lived in the physical and legal custody of a US citizen parent who was a US citizen through birth or naturalisation

 

(iii) you were under 18 years old

 

So, if all of that is true, you became a US citizen on that day.

@Hypnos even if my Green Card is expired would I still be able to get my passport as it shows the date I became a Permanent resident or US citizen that's what they need to see right?

Yes, you can still apply for a US passport.

Yes, it might be wise to also apply for a certificate of citizenship/naturalization for your own records if you are financially able.

No.

That would be an incredible waste of 1,170 hard-earned Dollars.

The CoC's primary purpose is to get a US passport. People who can get a US passport without the CoC would be insane to file an N-600. But if you're a Vietnamese girl whose mommy back in 1968 got knocked up by a GI who then took off like a rocket, never to be seen again, and you want to get a US passport based on jus sanguinis, you'll can't avoid going that route.
