Hello all,

My fiancé (F/21) and I (M/28) are ready to apply for the K1 visa, but before we do so, I just want to see if there are any concern or red flags?

A little background about us:  My fiancé was originally from the Philippines and was engaged with her ex from Sweden, I knew her before she left Philippines (as a friend) for Sweden to live with her ex.  After a year, that relationship didn't work out between them and she returned to the Philippines.  They didn't get married or anything.  After she got back to the Philippines, I had the chance of getting to know her better.  I visited her a month after she got back, and then visited her 2 more times.  A total of 3 times in a span of 6 months.  We feel ready to begin our journey together in the states, do you guys see any concerns or red flags with our situation?

I was wondering if it would be a problem since my fiancé was previously engaged and then only officially with me for only 6 months?  We skype and text every day, we have lots of evidence together photos/hotel/airplane receipts.

I'm a US citizen, never married, work as a Software Engineer.

I spent my early 20s working overseas and got to know many U.S. citizens very well. I met my husband, who is a U.S. citizen, through one of my American friends I knew from work. Prior to dating and eventually marrying my husband, I dated another U.S. citizen for two years. These are the only two serious relationships I have ever been in; and, like you, there was a fairly short time between the two relationships. I had not applied for any visa or immigration with my previous relationship.

Nothing about my romantic history or any previous relationships ever came up in my immigration process. Certainly, every case and interview will be different, but they were only interested in my current relationship. I had no issues with my U.S. immigration.

Thanks everyone for the replies.  Regarding the question of "Describe the circumstances of your in person meeting" in form I-129F (Item #54), how much do we need to write?  Does it have to include every single detail of when we first met as friends or only the time our relationship started?

You don't have to write a novel.

YMMV

Our statement was a few sentences. It stated the facts and was to the point. "My fiance and I met through a mutual friend, had a first date on such and such date. Continued developing our relationship. Went to visit on such and such date"... Nothing too involved.

At any point in time, did you have to include some sort of timeline of all the events that happened between you and your fiance?

No. All of the info was in the description of our meeting. I really think all that is necessary are the dates that you were physically together (that you can back up with evidence like boarding passes etc.) and the way that you met. By that I mean it seems they want to know that you've not met through any suspect means. In my opinion, for what it's worth, it doesn't seem like there would be any red flags in your situation.
