Looking at the Processing times especially for California Service Center, It looks like the current wait time is about 1 year 4 Months. I guess most of us will be eligible for Naturalization. Is anyone in this group thinking about applying for Naturalization while their I-751 is still pending approval? What are the Pros and Cons of applying for Naturalization while I 751 is pending approval?

Yes, we (my husband) will be applying for naturalization the day he qualifies - and will file online - which will be December 2018.

Pros? Not needing to wait until April 2019 to start the process.  Con?  Not getting a 10 GC to look at before you need to give it back to the USCIS after becoming USC.  Another con may be some uninformed people (mostly USCIS workers) who tell you that you cannot apply for naturalization before your ROC was approved.

I don't think filing for USC with a pending ROC delays anything.  Some threads I have looked at show that some get USC within 4-6 months after applying.  There will be an interview and the ROC packet will need to be routed to the field office (so I have heard - why do they have scanners for?) but both cases get closed together, so it's all good!

Signature coming soon...

I called USCIS Tier 2 Officer today and they made me to understand my case has not been schedule for Biometric Appointment because the ROC might take up to a year, because they don’t want the Biometric expired before my case is been approved, does any body experience suc?,please input I need to be sure I gat the right information

I didn't know biometrics will expire, but when I called in to ask about biometrics because I am travelling soon, they mentioned that the appointment depends on the field office availability.

Yeah, that sounds strange.  I never heard that from anyone before.  I know my husband's GC was approved relatively fast from our AOS, but I haven't seen someone needing to go for a new biometrics.  Maybe read over some September/October 2016 ROC threads were CSC people may still be waiting.  Starting at the last page and reading backwards may show some people saying they were surprised at a GC being approved.

On another note, someone in the Nov 2017 ROC filer thread found out they had a biometrics appointment scheduled, but didn't receive the letter.  We will call if no biometrics letter is received after Feb 5th (our NOA date is Dec 26th).

Signature coming soon...

HI everyone! Just wanted to update that I did my biometrics earlier today. The process was very quick and smooth. I showed up a little bit earlier, and they immediately took me for pictures, fingerprints and signature. I was surprised because they only took 4 fingerprints, as opposed to 10. Is that normal?

Yeah same with mine, I asked why the lady said it's only 4 fingers that is required on my own case

Yes, just noticed that now below the notice date

That must be it! Do you / does anyone know if they are doing fingerprint matching on the spot?

As soon as my fingerprints were taken, the computer had a message "searching for matches." I was curious whether they were doing background check on the spot, or they were simply trying to match with the old fingerprints?
