Expediate Ghana Visa for Spouse?

Good day all.

 

I have a quick question. I filed for my Ghanaian husband and we are currently waiting for an interview date. I want to see if mentioning that he has medical issues (his stomach ulcers & liver issues) would either EXPEDITE or WEAKEN my chances of hasting an interview/approved interview date/approved. I have a few days left to add him as spousal dependent on my employers health insurance, and I want him to benefit from my 

health insurance when he comes. He is an able-bodies fellow, but his health issues have been poorly managed.

NVC received all of our documents mid-Sept and they asked us to wait 11 weeks before disposition of an interveiw date. I really want my husband here, please help

You could try but you should talk to your benefits administrator because I would think your spouse coming into the country would be an exception to modify your insurance after open enrollment.

It won't hurt his case at all. That said, I just can't see how this is cause for an expedite unless I'm misunderstanding something, sorry. Medical-based expedites are typically for time-sensitive and severe/potentially severe conditions.

I agree it doesn't seem like a solid reason for expedite.

 

However, you may still be able to add him to your insurance. Gaining permanent residency qualifies as a life changing event. After your your husband enters the US you can then add him to your coverage.

 

Second option is that since you are married you can add him to your plan NOW. I remember a VJ member who successfully added his wife  to his insurance while she was still living in her country. If I come across the thread I will post it for you.
