Does anything HAPPEN regarding your petition between when you get your NOA1 and NOA2? By that I mean, the timeline estimate says our case will probably be adjudicated in April sometime, but are applications literally just sitting in a pile until then when it's all looked over and a decision is made, or are things reviewed and such between now and then? Just curious the kinds of things we might see, if anything, between now and NOA2? What kinds of updates are posted on the USCIS site once you have an account?

Thanks!

They receive thousands and thousands of petitions and applications each month.  Each case must be scrutinized by human eyes......so yes, cases sit in a room  (or pile) until those ahead (usually) are adjudicated first.

EDIT:  Earlier this year, and probably even now, there were more than a million petitions waiting.

Thanks for the reply! I suppose what I mean is does the adjudication process happen all at once when "it's your turn" over a matter of a few days or is there stuff going on with petitions throughout the process?

Yes, the USCIS review actually only take 5 to 10 minutes but it takes 6 months to get someone to look at it!

You will see RFEs and lots of movement around your number.  Just relax.  At this point all you can do is wait.  You will get a little more control after the NVC stage.

I assume things like background checks are started beforehand. Beyond that, the packet is just sitting there waiting for a temporary home on some poor guy's desk.
