Welcome to another monthly thread for those going through NVC

 

Please read everything below and refer to it throughout your NVC journey, whether this is your first month at NVC or your third.

Before posting questions, please read the wiki Saylin wrote on the NVC process here. Once you're done, read it one or two more times to really understand it ;)Don't forget to also read the official form instructions as well as USCIS and NVC's websites!

Yes this thread was created by our great Queen Saylin and the knowledge is still going forward. This thread I pray stays alive and well as many who have gone through the process or still going can chime in and help and assist.

If you're wondering about time frames, look at the fellow members right here in this thread! Study their signatures/timelines and make notes. VJ also has this awesome page. Use it! I sure did during my process  That means if you are on this thread WE expect you to have an up to date timeline.

how long is it taking people.. NOA2 --> NVC case number assigned ??

 

i got approved 09/25 .. maybe i should call on Monday

it takes around 14 days, so start calling from next week.

did u receive any email confirming that your case moved to NVC ? in that case, you can call start calling them some time later next week

no email yet ... only approval letter

they send a seperate email confirming case moved to NVC ?

if you signed up for email notification with USCIS, you should get an email notification that you case is send to NVC and then wait at least one week before start calling them

Yes this before you even think about calling them, it should get sent this upcoming week.

You can check their website with your LIN number, you should be able to get your case number about a week after that status has updated.

@Bendite the guide does give a time frame

"It can take up to 60 calendar days to review packages."

Which sounds accurate from what others have been posting all week.

I was bit of lucky. USCIS send my case to NVC within 3 days of approval email

Awesome, I think they do certain things on certain days and they batch approvals together so sometimes you get lucky and have yours done sooner than later.

hmm..so far 38 days gone after SD. Hopefully will not get any checklist and CC within next 3 weeks

Hi, pls I have a question, I hv bin going through this thread for days.... my question is, while waiting for our case to get to NVC as it was approved on sep 22, is there anything I can be putting together in terms of documents, can I have my husband go do the police report nd have it ready?(he is in Nigeria) I plan to request for Irs transcript this week also I plan to callNVC to see if they can give me the info to make payments before the welcome letter....is it ideal to get the police report before hand or just wait and hear from them? Thank you

I married my wife on the 2nd visit .. I whatsapp/skype with her for 7 months + went back to to visit her once .. we only did Nikkah (muslim marriage contract) + honeymoon few months after

 

i am going back home this month to do more rituals ( Mehndi, Barat & Walimma)

 

will this be a problem at interview as consular might make a point that my marriage was not consummated at time of filing I130 since i didnt complete all the rituals ?

 

in my opinion, our marriage was consummated at Nikkah .. I honestly didn't even wanna do the rituals but my family is more traditional

you can definitely start collecting documents. Read this link in detail
