Hello guys I'm getting really worried waiting for my I-130 approval, I filed it in May 2017 and about a week later they sent me a letter saying that they received it on May 18th I called earlier this week and they said that the Texas Service Center still has a delay and that they are reviewing cases filed in December, does this mean I have to wait another 5 months until they get to May to get approved (I pray)

Its been 4 months since they received my documents

I am a US citizen and live in Michigan

I filed for my husband who lives in Albania

i was just in Albania for 10 days bc my grandpa passed away but I really didn't have any time to enjoy with my husband. This waiting is getting very stressful and emotional for me!!

The wait is a heartbreak and some here have waited longer

but all u can do is wait

the Nebraska center is even taking longer than Texas

BTW this is only the first step

next goes to NVC and they will ask for criminal investigation reports for your husband

the I 864 and the DS 260 plus those 2 fees

plus any other fees they may need

then after review of those it goes to embassy for interview

he must pass the interview to be approved for the visa

good luck and God bless u

My sisters have been through the same process and my cousin was the most recent one and it really didn't take any of them longer than 5 months for the approval of the i-130, since they are in December does this mean I have to wait another 5 months to get to my file?

And thank you you so much god bless you as well

*~*~*moved from "bringing family members" to "IR-1/ R-1 spouse visa progress reports"*~*~*

OP, the worst thing you can do right now is compare your timescale with others who did the same years ago. All cases are different. The approval for I-130 is between 6 and 10 months at the moment. Anything faster than that is a bonus.

Timeline in brief:

Married: September 27, 2014

I-130 filed: February 5, 2016

NOA1: February 8, 2016 Nebraska

NOA2: July 21, 2016

Interview: December 6, 2016 London

POE: December 19, 2016 Las Vegas

N-400 filed: September 30, 2019

Interview: March 22, 2021 Seattle

Oath: March 22, 2021 COVID-style same-day oath

Now a US citizen!

They process the i-130 by timeline . You can check the timeline at uscis and it should tell you on which month they are working on . Sometimes not accurate about the timeline posted on website . Mine took about 7 months and i live in US. A friend of mine was in the same situation as yours , it took quiet some time . Best you can do it’s having all the other forms ready and all the requiered documents and proofs so once the i-130 is approved , you can send the other paperwork right away . Good luck .

Isn’t there an expiration date on the next documents needed to send to NVC, like if I get them now will it be ok to use them for when I get the approval?

Not really, i don’t know if you have a laywer or doing the process by yourself . If you are doing it by yourself , get familiar with the forms you are gonna have to file for the green card . Read all the instruction and all the proof they are gonna need , because when that time comes you don’t wanna run into any surprises , for not having all the paperwork .

No I don’t have a lawyer, nor am I doing it myself, I have an agent who’s completing them for me, it’s just that I don’t really know if the papers needed from the NVC will still be ok by the time I get the approval, I really don’t want to waste time and would love to tell my husband to ship them to me from Albania but I don’t know how long the papers will be good for
