I already did my medical 2weeks ago and was asked to see a psychiatrist for personal evaluation due to diagnosed depression which I did a few days ago and the doc said i passed when i asked her. My problem is I cut my wrist just after all those stuffs had done because of depression (a different reason from what has been previously diagnosed). I guess because of all this overwhelming process from filing up to now and i thought what if i did not pass the interview? plus all the pressure from people around me believing i would pass. I felt extreme sadness. It was the first time i hurt myself. i am sure my medical results are already available and could get vaccination the same day. My question is do i need to report to SLEC what I just did to myself before accepting the vaccination or should i just proceed with the interview without reporting it? If i will report it, will i be inadmissible? If i will not report it, will i face any future problems if ever i will be admitted to USA because i think forms will be asking questions if i ever commit suicide? if SLEC found out, do i need a repeat exam for everything and pay again? I already regret what i did. it was a terrible mistake. I have been thru a lot of hardships in life but this is the first time i ever did hurt myself. I already told fiance and got mad ofcourse but he loves me still. i dont know what to do anymore.

I hope i could hear from anyone how am i going to fix it?

thanks.

A good rule of thumb is do not volunteer information. If the topic is not brought up, no need to mention. If the SLEC physician/nurse notice the cuts, you have to answer truthfully. I'm sure others will have better input, just my 2c.

Don't volunteer information but if asked, be truthful.  This is a serious situation and I think that you should get some help to work through it.  Your health and wellbeing is the most important thing here.  The stresses that you will feel with the move to a different culture half way around the world will be incredible.  American life is more regimented and strict compared to life there.  It drives me crazy when I go there.  Everything is so laid back and unorganized!!!!  LOL  You really need to be prepared for life in the States.  You will need to be very strong when you move here.  I would hate to see anything happen to you.  Please get yourself some help.

I do not believe a suicide attempt will automatically get you denied but I'm pretty sure lying about it will.  I believe you should be honest and see what they say.  That is probably the best way to proceed.  I would also see about getting some help and guidance.  The stresses from the move, even with your fiances support will be overwhelming.  I will pray that everything works out for you but this and the move are very stressful events.  Please take care of yourself and know that the stress is not going away very soon.  Be prepared for it and i am hoping for the best for you.

As others have said, do not offer any information that is not asked. But you should probably seek help about your cutting. Were you actually trying to kill yourself or just didn't know how to deal with your stress. You need to know why you did it so you can find better ways of handling it in the future. As jwlussow said moving to a new country and culture thousands of miles from your home will cause you a lot of stress and you need to learn how to deal with it in much better ways.

Some thoughts for you:

The only people without any problems are dead. Life is problems which are challenges to overcome. Each one makes you stronger and smarter. But being alive means we can experience love, joy, and happiness as well.

My prayer to God is always for a stronger back not a lighter load. He will never give you more than you can handle so never give up.

Please stay strong! I wish you the best! Let us know how it goes.

I'm going to call a spade a spade. There have been those in your same situation and have been denied. Those who have given advise ahead mine are correct in all that they say so I am not going to repeat but only give a . If you are going to get through this with SLEC you should wait as long as you can so things heal up before you go. Be confident and keep everything to yourself. Answer only when asked but keep your answers short and to the point. Don't volunteer anything and that goes with the interview at USEM. Do tell the truth. Good luck.

Thanks for your response. I meant I was already done with my medical at st. lukes, all i need to do now is get the results and have vaccination. For sure they will not ask me anything about it anymore and just give me my medical results and thats it. My only problem now is what if I get the visa, went to USA and file a form and there is a question in the form if i ever commit suicide? Should I say NO? In america, do they do physical exam? They might found out coz of scars in my wrist but they will never see records in their system. The suicide attempt happened after all the medical exam so the nurses/doctors don't know about it and can't know about it unless i tell them now.

Appreciate your concern. Im also planning to see a psych to help and understand why i did that stupid thing.

thanks.

Hi Ro_Ah, thanks for your kind words. I already learned my mistake and am sure to never do it again. I want to kill myself at that moment only to realize after that it was wrong. I already have scars and will stay here forever. Planning to go see a psych on weekend.

thank you Greenbaum. Haven't submitted a DS160 form and don't have any appointment interview date coz i want to pass first the medical before setting an appointment. In the DS160 form, is there any question about "DID YOU EVER COMMIT SUICIDE?" If I said YES to that question and the CO notice, and if he compares in the medical report and found nothing (coz i did that after medical exam), am i in trouble? will I get an automatic denied visa?

Ok. Take a deep breath. The trouble is behind you. No one is following you or lurking in the dark for you to make a mistake by telling them you tried to commit suicide. So from this day forward this is something that you need to talk to a professional about but it needs to be put in your "closet" not to be talked about again, unless asked.  There is no paperwork or forms from this point on that will ask you anything about a suicide attempt. So let's stop worrying and get on with your life starting NOW. Ok :D

Hello there.., How are you?  I wonder of how much you hurt yourself? Are you okay? I'm sorry, that is really sad to hear you hurt yourself and yes what you did is wrong.. But I understand you and feel you, you did not mean to do it, you were driven by your depression which is your main enemy. You need to fight, beat that depression and don't let it takeover you. Perhaps the Psychiatrist doc prescribe you some medication or told you some ways to fight it, ways to wiped it away? I think we all have depression issues in different levels which I think I still have. Though I have never been diagnose with I just know it's a symptom of depression.. I used to hurt my head while crying when I was in High School, when I did something wrong and everyone around me is being negative and seems putting all the blame in me. And me in this waiting for noa 2 process is honestly depressing but I tried so hard to beat it...

You have no idea how lucky you are to have come that far already while a lot of us here are still in this so nerve drilling process, still clueless waiting for noa 2. You are very lucky to have loving people around you that believes in you, especially your fiance that still loves you despite what happened. So cheer up girl..., You have to believe in yourself and be optimistic.. why wouldn't you pass the interview? Asked yourself for what reason would you not pass the interview. You just have to go there and tell your beautiful love story wrapped with pure sincerity.

As for your question, you still have to go back to SLEC for the vaccination? In your statement I quoted, I'm kinda confused with it. I thought results are available only after all the vaccinations? Did you actually already passed the medical exam? If not yet and still have to go back for the vaccination, maybe you should report it to SLEC to avoid bigger issue to happen? I'm thinking about the possible things to happen if they find that out themselves and you did not tell them about it. Or maybe you should consult your psychiatric doc about what you did... Truthfully, I am also worried with my health too even though we're not close to that stage yet. I was diagnosed with ill-defined-densities at the upper part of my left lung and was under medication for 6 month. I am cleared but still taking my meganerv (vitamins for my lungs) as prescribed by my doctor. I have been worrying, thinking what if it will come back and become our major problem in this process? Few people around me telling me not to tell SLEC about this medical history of me since I am already cleared.. But I refused, although I was cleared I already have a small scar at my upper left lung.. I asked my doc about it and he said it's not going to be a problem because scars are just natural for all the people who gone through any kind of lung problems.. If I zip my mouth, they will find that scar in my x-ray results someday and will sure judge it to something serious when just a scar.. So it's better to tell them the whole story about it rather than making them say to me that I have a serious issue in my lungs that needs medical treatment for 6 months because I shut my mouth about my medical history.. I definitely don't want to undergo another 6 months and another sputum test. My point is it is better telling them before hand rather make them question you when they find out about it..

Cheer up girl! You will get through it!:):)

I totally agree with you with all your point..I don't think she mean to try to commit suicide.. I think she did it because she was depress and lost control and she regretted it.. That thing is best to be buried because it's not done by her--- the culprit is her depression.. She just have to get rid of that killer by starting not to worry and be positive.. :D

Don't volunteer information.    Silence is golden.     (.. and knock that stuff off! ;) )

No there is not a question in that regard, the DS-160 is more of a biographical information form.

You will need a copy of the DS-160 confirmation page before getting the vaccinations at SLEC

You should address the source of your depression at some time in the near future as well as discuss with your intended spouse, support is needed now and in the future. Best of luck to you
