In Virginia, you can register to vote at the DMV. It's not instantaneous though. I updated my record at DMV and applied for voter registration at the same time. The registration card will come in mail.

Updating information at SS was the most painless. Just walked into an SS office and took about 15 mins. They just wanted see the Nat. Certificate and updated their system and told me I would receive my new card in 2 weeks. I received it in less than a week.

Now a little pause till I get my passport.

What I post here is merely my personal opinion and not a valid legal advice and should not be viewed as such.

The voter registration---I got lucky at my oath ceremony and there was a representative from there handing out registration forms/collecting them once filled out.  So that was one less thing I had to take care of.  It was about 2 weeks after my oath that the registration card arrived in the mail.

Another thing I'll have to check, is that while I don't have a drivers licence, I do have the NY State ID (cannot remember if legal status was asked during that application process), so that may have to be updated as well now.

Oh that’s nice! All the SS offices AND dmv offices here in Dallas are forever packed so I know that won’t be as quick and easy for me lol

Updated the social security dept Today. I was grateful that I was only there for an hour. My new card will be here in 2 weeks.

Congratulations. Is voter registration done too?

This is what I've done after my oathtaking:

5 days after   --  Passport : I went to the city hall where I can just do a walk-in to apply for a passport. In and out in 5 mins.

15 days after -- Updated my Social Security : Brought my passport after receiving it. I didn't need a new card since mine didn't show any restrictions.

17 days after -- DMV: Applied for the REAL ID so brought my passport and 2 utility bills. Registered to vote as well.

Did I forget anything?
