We sent transcripts as they are apparently preferred over returns. I have read that a lot of people didn't bother with transcripts because it was "too much hassle", but it took me all of about 10 minutes to do the online paperwork and print them right from home.

In 2014 we sent a package with a paperwork  to evaluate school/university scores in to USA credits. Evaluation centers are only working with originals, no copies. So, yes, original  Diplomas and  academic transcripts were sent.

Tracking # showed it was delivered and signed. Great! But in some time we learnt the EC has never received our package. So, we filed a claim with USPS, and meanwhile started our own "investigation". We found the company our packet was delivered by mistake, contacted them and they were nice to drop it to Evaluation Center, which was just few steps away from the company.. and from the USPS Office as well.

Of course, we have never heard anything back from USPS  - they have not even tried to contact the company, despite the fact the signature and address was really easy to track... for us, at least.

 

Now - 2 USCIS letters (NOA & ACS Appointment) have not been delivered to us... 

 

I understand things happen, but every time I have to mail something important, with sensitive info inside -  freaks me out until package is delivered..  And what happened to janet&adonis   - just horrible...

we filed a claim with usps and they  did not send us an email they did not call they just sent us the $50 that was insurance claim.....

Hmmmm that brings up an interesting question, and probably one for another thread..... to file for citizenship or not.... there are so many pro's and con's.... as a Canadian, we can have dual, but I honestly don't know if I'd want to.....   hubby and I really haven't talked about it much, the last two years have been an absolute whirlwind. It was usually left at "we'll cross that bridge when we get there".....

That's exactly my problem. I planned to seek advice/experience here as the time gets closer...for me it's a personal/moral dilemma because even though Canada doesn't recognize that you've renounced your Canadian citizenship the thought of having to utter the word "renounce" at an American ceremony makes me nauseous. If I could leave that part out it would be a lot less of a dilemma. Are you guys planning to stay in the USA long-term? I feel like that factors into people's decisions as well. We have never planned to stay here a day longer than my husband's job requires (military) and have always intended to move home to Canada permanently once he's free to go in a couple of years, and we only want to have kids once we're back in Canada. So I'd be curious to hear from other Canadians who are either living back in Canada already or planning to move back to Canada with their USC long-term, to find out the pros and cons of getting the citizenship. From a practical standpoint it seems to make sense, we've already spent all this money and gone through all this work, so to get it and then have it for life seems smart, but I'm still struggling. My patriotism for Canada rivals the most patriotic Americans!!

We're not sure if this will be the forever home... I tease hubby that I want to share the love - let him experience the awesome immigration process North of the border LOL... we talk of maybe retiring back to Ontario. I feel the same way about muttering those words, I don't think I could!    The only perk to doing citizenship is that while my daughters are under 18, it would automatically be granted to them so that they don't have to be burdened with renewing their Green cards every 10 years (assuming they choose to stay in the US) - they'd have the flexibility to live/work in either country.... From what I have read, while we're not required to file taxes in Canada in years we don't earn an income, once a US citizen you would still have to file with Uncle Sam even if living/working in Canada..... My girls are 12 & 9 now, so I figure we don't have to rush into anything.... and I certainly would not be applying under the current Administration  ---just saying

Just came home and post office delivered our NOA1. Dated July 10, 2017. We are relieved and now waiting for Biometrics letter.

Congrats!! At what point do you guys think it's worth getting worried? Our packet was received July 8 and the check was cashed yesterday. Yet I see a lot of people's letters are dated and sent the same day the packet is received. If I don't get it tomorrow it's going to be a very long weekend......

You should be getting NOA1 tomorrow or Saturday. The latest would be next Monday. If it doesn't arrive by then usual time would be 2 weeks after check is cashed.

Only 2 years have gone by & somehow I forgot how stressful putting things together can be  can anyone tell me where I might find my USCIS Online Account Number!? I don't remember ever having one...

i couldn't remember that either. i left it blank
