They will not issue a visitor visa. I tried that after our marriage. We had all documents showing ties to the Philippines. They wouldn't even look at them and denied it saying we didn't show ties to the Philippines. I'm trying to expedite now for medical reasons and seems they don't care.

I don't know what the problem is with our Government. They say we didn't file out the G-325 because it is on the I-130. Every one says send it any way. They are wrong. They make mistakes and it means nothing.

You seem to be married to a US citizen. Maybe that is why they don't want to give you the visitor visa. Or they were not convinced by the ties.

I have friends with LRP partners in the US who got visitor visas.

She can only do her best and try to get the visa.

Hello fello VJ's! I am married to a LPR and i want to give him a surprise visit on our anniversary through a tourist visa. Is it possible that I will be given a chance to enter US being married to a lpr? If yes, after my vacation, we will start our application early nextyear for spousal visa. Is it okay to have a tourist visa and apply for I-130 afterwards?

Thank you!

By the way, another way to show ties would be to enroll in some sort of education program in your country. For instance, if you have a bachelor you could look into doing a Masters program. That would not only keep you occupied, but it would be an additional tie to your country. It is just an idea if it is something you are interested in pursuing.

What is wrong with your Husband?

Back to original Poster's question...  You as the Saudi Citizen my apply for a visitor visa to the USA.  If you get it or not will not negatively affect a future application for a spousal visa.   As you said you wanted to surprise your husband you clearly don't want to discuss this with him first but you don't want to do anything that would jeopardize your chances at a future spousal visa.  Having and using a tourist visa,  applying for a tourist visa, none of that will have any negative effect on a subsequent application by him for a spousal visa..   BUT..... you ABSOLUTELY MUST be honest about your intentions and marriage situation when applying for the tourist visa...  Do not say ANYTHING that would be a misrepresentation of the facts.   As long as you are honest at the interview there is no harm (other than the cost) of trying.   GOOD LUCK... while I'd be surprised if you get the a tourist visa there is no harm in trying.

Thank you everyone! You're all a big help, indeed. @JE57 I am not a saudi citizen, im a pure filipino working here in saudi arabia. So, I'll go on with my application knowing that it will affect my future application for spousal visa

I have sent you a message - dont put your self as single - you may end up with a lifetime ban!!

why would you lie!  Your name has nothing tp do with it - if you are married you are!!

there is no requirement whatsoever to share the same surname with husband!!

Ok. This might be the problem: It seems that they consider this type of help as "work". That is very unfortunate, but if someone could be hired to do the work, like a nurse, they think you will be woking.

You should say you want to accompany him during surgery and also, people cannot go under surgery without a friend or family member because of the anesthesia. So going to the hospital, helping him with meds, etc, is fine. But beyond that, it could be considered work. In any case, if he has family in the US, he could have them do other stuff you would not be allowed to do.

Also, you need ties to your country. The timing of the surgeries seem very long and you will not be able to stay that long in the US. First, overstaying is not forgiven for spouses of permanent residents. Second, if you plan for a long stay then your ties are weak because nobody can really take 6 months off work/life.

Hi: I told her the same. She was confused because her passport says "single". But what matters is that she married after getting the passport.  She was also having a problem filling n the DS 160. I think she was able to fix it but I am not sure.

Are you saying that you were granted a tourist visa?   Praying it worked for you and that even being very nervous that everything you said was 100% honest.

Do bear in mind that having the visa still does not guarantee entry to the USA.  You will still need to answer questions at the Port of Entry.  While the Visa gives you a good shot you should be prepared for questions as to why are you're  visiting and what compels you leave at the end of your visit.   And again, you must be 100% honest in your answers at POE as you don't want any real or perceived misrepresentations on your file when you later are petitioned for a spousal visa.
