Questions about police clearance records for Mexico!

Hey guys,

I still have like three months to go before we switch to the NVC stage, but I want to be proactive and start working on my missing documents.

I know that for Mexico, police clearance is now required (carta de antecedentes no penales) so I have a few questions:

1. I've lived in three different cities in Mexico for over a year, since I was 16. Can I provide federal records, or do I need to provide state records for each city?

2. How old can the documents be? It's not in any website, I'm guessing they can't be older than 3 months, like they require for job interviews?

I'm asking because I'm getting my police clearance for a volunteering program in July, but the NVC process won't start until October/November.

No longer will I live in Mexico City after July, so getting them later will be a little complicated (But not impossible of course)

I'm moving back to my parent's house in a different state for the last 6 months of the process, so I can provide newer ones from there as well, if available.

I just want to know if anyone went through this already, what records they provided and how old they were. Thanks!

It is my understanding that none of the agencies speak to one another (Municipal, State, Federal) and that the Federal report is only needed if requested, which is good because it is so hard to get. So, unless on the list of documents needed from the Embassy lists it, we are only going to get the Municipal and State reports.

As for the validity time, I think it is 6 months.

My PD is about a month away, my beneficiary is CDMX too, which is where I'm spending most of my time, we'll probably be going for this soon.

Note even after NOA2 there's still around a month of wait time.

Only downside of leaving the city is that if you're here or estado de mexico, you can do your medical and I think biometrics here.

  • 3 weeks later...

I have a question with my police certificate

I know that they are like 3 kinds of police certificates

Federal, estatal and I dunno what other.

My question is, I moved to Mexico City a year ago but Ive never changed my IFE (ID)

So my address is from Tampico Tamaulipas, so estatal one, will be from Tamaulipas although I dont live there anymore?

Should I change my IFE while I have a change to get an adress from Mexico City and then have two estatal Police certificates and 1 federal?

I don't think you need the federal from what I've seen, and from this post it looks like they only got one.
