One of the major things they look at is how you guys have commingled finances as a married couple. It might be helpful for you to put your spouse on more bills or better still open a joint account together

Exactly this. My attorney said they love financial stuff. Get some affidavits from friends or family stating your relationship is real. Like the above said, conversations on phone and stuff social media posts too. Maybe greetings cards you've got each other? You should include lots a photos too from throughout your entire relationship. Proof that you've visited each other, plane tickets and visa stamps (get the history of your travel to the US in conjunction to the i94)

If you're doing the CR/IR-1, you are NOT required to have co-mingling of finances. In fact, most people doing the spousal visa won't have this as they haven't lived together yet. Co-mingling of finances are for those doing AOS or ROC, which is very different from the process you're in.

The evidence to present depends on whether you're living together in the foreign spouse's country or if you're living in your separate countries?

The best evidence to show is of time spent together, in person, such as pictures and passport stamps/boarding passes. They love seeing evidence of your families co-mingling.

Evidence of time spent together in person (passport stamps) is the strongest relationship evidence.  I suspect that if you have a joint tenancy agreement, you've spent some significant time together.  Document the dates.  FYI, you can never "prove" your marriage is bona fide.  You simply provide evidence and a Consular officer makes  a subjective judgment based on the totality of circumstances.  Without knowing the totality of circumstances of your case NOBODY can tell you what is enough
