No co-sponsor?

Hey guys!

 

So we are currently waiting for our NOA2 and I told my fiancé to start looking into the affidavit of support. We thought his mom would be alright with co-sponsoring me, since she makes way over the minimum, but he asked her last night and she doesn't want to do it. My fiancé does actually meet the minimum income himself, but he works for his dad so he doesn't have the papers from earlier years to proof it. I think he should have the papers for it from this year. 

 

So my question is, what are our options? I don't think we can find someone else to co-sponsor us.

Does he have employment letter, paystubs, is he filing taxes? Current income is most important, but he needs proof.

He doesn't have paystubs, he just gets a check from his dad every week. He pays tax over every paycheck (or monthly, I think).

If we works for his dad legally, there should be evidence you can provide.

 

Also, why not ask the dad to be the joint sponsor?

I'll discuss that with him when he wakes up. 

 

We could ask his dad, but he doesn't really like me that much. His mom does, but she and his stepdad don't want to co-sponsor because if we were to break up, they are still legally binded to me? He told them there's no chance that's going to happen... but they still don't want to do it. 

 

I guess asking doesn't hurt, so I'll tell him he could ask his dad.

If his dad pays him as an employee, if he pays taxes and is legally listed as an employee at the dad's company....in theory then that's all you need. Just pay stubs from his job there. Tax returns. The dad wouldn't even need to be involved.

 

If the dad pays him cash and he isn't a tax paying employee, then that's an issue. It doesn't hurt to ask the dad.
