Some Democratic leaders around the country are growing increasingly concerned that the party could be repeating its errors from the 2016 election by looking past voters' core concerns in lawmakers' eagerness to take aim at the president.

"We're obsessed with what's happening here, and a lot of American people are worried about that," Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti told NBC News during an interview in D.C. this week. "But if you're out of a job or struggling with debt, you've got more primary concerns than even all of the drama here in Washington. And if nobody is speaking to it, besides this president, you're going to stick with him. You just are. Even through this stuff."

Some Democrats — especially those outside Washington, who are closer to their constituents and more removed from the Beltway — warn most voters are too busy leading their lives to pay attention to the ins and outs of the Russia investigations or the controversy du jour in the capital and are more responsive to bread-and-butter issues than the possible but unlikely impeachment of the president.

"Yes, Trump is hurting the country," said newly elected North Carolina Gov. Roy Cooper. "But the bottom line is people are worried about getting their kids through college, making ends meet, and keeping their family running. Those are the things that they focus on."

Well lets see, Trump won the election..

The MSM and Dems have been running a blitz against Trump to try and exaggerate every single day anything he does.. (this is the Bush narrative all over again)

Haven't had the time to BS their voters with issues they might actually care about..

Well I'll be damned. Let me find a tissue.

I think it's just a further sign of the dissonance between the Washington insiders/establishment politicians and their actual voting bases back home.

Good on this guy for at least trying to point that out a bit.

What he's pointing out isn't anything more than conventional wisdom people tend to ignore.

The Washington establishment are disconnected regarding the core of issues, yes.

Where they are not disconnected is their extensive marketing pocketbooks. They pay vast amounts of people vast amounts of money to regionally research voters to find ways to BS them, to con them into their vote, to motivate them in any way to vote a certain way on whatever issues might come up.

The daily anti-Trump narrative is part of this same strategy the Democrats used against Bush to surround so much of the Presidents daily life with negativity people just want nothing to do with it. While Trump certainly doesn't help his cause, because he's a douchebag, he's also wealthy, and let's face it, the more connections we get, the more ambitious we get, the more we run into other ambitious people, the higher chances we do business with shady people. You won't find a single elected Democrat or Republican either who isn't wealthy and without connections that are shady.

What people should be asking themselves is why marketing strategies, political and business-wise, are so successful.. they've narrowed people down, and intellectually cornered them into certain lines of thinking, which makes strategy and marketing campaigns all that much easier.

I am getting sick of this Russian nonsense but a part of me wants to see it continue so the democrats ruin their chances in the mid term elections. They would be well served to drop this nonsense and concentrate on issues Americans are concerned about.

If they have any desire to win any elections their narrative will change conveniently when election season ramps up.

And if Congressional Republicans are still the nutless people in they've been, especially under Obama, and for the most part under Trump too, they'll jump to assail Trump (a winning strategy) so they seem moderate.
