Well at the embassy in Sthlm you're always called up to two windows. That's why I asked the question about the OP's embassy.

Oh, I see. Here they only give you once chance at once window. Sounds like it's different at different embassies then.

Were they asked to submit documents prior to the interview? If so, perhaps next time make sure they give all documents to the administrative personnel, even if they don't ask for that specific document have them still hand it to them.

Hi Suss&Camm, in Brazil for a tourist visa you don't have to submit any documents prior to the interview, the window is the only place you can show the documents during the interview. I do believe they review your application before the interview and that they pretty much have an idea what they want to see or not. I also believe that my dad was asked 3 times about his profession on purpose and they came to the conclusion that that was a big red flag, although my dad was retired, 64 years old and with many disabilities...I really think they should have asked for the papers and that it was a mistake. Anyways, we got to broadcast the wedding on Facebook and we also had a professional video of the wedding which I edited including captions in Portuguese so that my parents, brothers and friends could watch and enjoy.

remember, papers (documents) do not and cannot demonstrate/prove intent...the applicant must convince a CO of their intent, not a pile of papers. It was not a mistake to not look at every or any piece of paper...in general, if a case is bona fide, papers might be occasionally looked at to check for consistency in the responses given...and that would be comparatively rare. Any type of document can be, er, 'created' or crafted at home or by some folks who have kiosks outside many of our embassies worldwide...the people manning the kiosks are trying to find customers who will try anything to get a visa....by using fake papers of some kind....not a wise thing to do.
