Trump Supporters ( excuse me if you are not one) seem to throw corrupt, rigged, no ethics, criminal and more accusations so often with ZERO proof or even understanding of the impact of those words that you cheapen and degrade the concept of what good government should look like.  You have no right to use absolutes like had no ethics  because you do not have that information.

So you think W was an ethical president? I guess we will just have to agree to disagree on that one. I remember one of his ethics lawyers (not sure if it was this one) advised him that torture is legal and ethical.

I think we can all agree Trump isn't ethical. That's a good starting point.

It would not have been a breach of ethics back then.

Possibly... but it also would have made it seem as if he would fire him because he did not like Comey's outcome of findings regarding Hillary. It would be the same if Hillary had fired him, she would have been accused of doing so because he was a 'troublemaker'. Nevertheless the evidence is pretty clear the firing now is completely botched and is not for the reasons being stated.

Also this article raises many interesting points many seem to be overlooking regarding Trump's little ''Bye Felicia'' letter. It's a long one, but very sound. The claim that Comey told the President ''three times'' is not only against DOJ policy which specifically would forbid it, but in of itself unethical, and is seriously dubious at best.

I'm staying on topic. Bush has nothing to do with this. A lawyer that worked for his administration said Trump's move was unethical. Prove him wrong.

An ethics lawyer who served a very unethical administration is hardly someone to be held up as an expert on ethics.

I have no doubt we have someone who is far more competent than he is, on this matter, right here on VJ.

His bio is weak:

Benjamin Wittes is editor in chief of Lawfare and a Senior Fellow in Governance Studies at the Brookings Institution. He is the author of several books and is co-chair of the Hoover Institution's Working Group on National Security, Technology, and Law.
