Hey Guys, I am in the early stages of waiting for our NOA2 but I am already stressed about what I need to prepare for the interview stage (mine would be in London)

I have read the US embassy site in London which provides the usual details of needing passport/birth certificate ect but I read on many other forums and sites that we need to prove my fiancé's domicile in the US, along with intent to marry, intent to stay full time in the US ect....

Does anybody, who has had their interview in London have a list of any kind that I can follow?

If so, it would be mutely appreciated and help stress levels haha

Also, from the date of receiving your NOA2 to going for your medical for example - how long was this?

I am travelling in Mexico so would need to fly straight back to the UK to perform all this - will I have sufficient time?

Many Thanks

I took:

4x US spec passport photos (you can get these done at Boots or Tesco etc)

Police Certificate

NOA1 + NOA2

Basically any correspondence to do with the visa process, I just got my (now) wife to send me copies.

A photocopy of our original I-129F

I also took the affadavit of support and 3 years of tax returns from our sponsor.

You may not need all of the above, but that's what I took.

As far as asking on timelines, no idea. Could be a week, could be two months.

Best of luck, if you need anything feel free to private message me!

Did you take further photos of your relationship or any other evidence such to prove your wife's domicile in the states?

For a good overview of the UK K1 process have a read through this very helpful thread. It should tell you all that is needed.

There are some small changes, such as you are now able to arrange your own interview with the embassy, where in the old days they'd be the ones telling you when to appear. As for the NOA2 to medical, well that all depends. It's up to you to arrange for the medical. In general once you receive your NOA2, you'd at least leave a couple weeks gap or have your fiancé contact the NVC to have them try and figure out when your case has left the US for London, and receive the case number. Sometimes it can be faster or slower for the service center or the NVC to ship the case around depending on lots of factors. You can see by my timeline how long it took. The things you're going to need to get done ahead of time, ideally, as the thread suggests, even before the medical - are your vaccinations, police certificate, and making sure all your documents are in order. I would say if you are currently in Mexico, and your NOA2 has arrived, you should be heading back to the UK and making sure all the rest of the things you need to get done are finished, so that you are all ready to begin the consular process.

No I didn't, that's not to say it's not needed but I certainly wasn't asked for it.

The London consulate is a breeze for K1 applicants. Apart from the usual (police certificate, birth certificate, passport photos...), they request preferrably a letter of employment from the sponsor (tax returns and paystubs usually not necessary). All VJ members I've seen have not needed to supply a renewed letter of intent to marry, and relationship evidence or domicile evidence are not required either.

If it isn't difficult, it isn't worth it.

K1 process

9/24/15: I129f sent

9/30/15: NOA1

11/2/15: NOA2

Delayed processing due to work

3/15/16: Medical

4/28/16: Interview (approved)

Delayed entry due to work

8/12/16: POE Detroit

9/4/16: Wedding!

AOS process:

9/9/16: I485/I131/I765 sent

9/14/16: Received 3xNOAs by text/e-mail (day 2)

9/14-18/16: Received 3xpaper NOAs

9/23/16: Received biometrics appointment letter (day 11)

10/3/16: Biometrics appointment (day 19)

11/4/16: EAD+AP approved (day 53)

11/16/16: EAD status changed to card shipped (day 65)

11/17/16: EAD/AP combo card received (day 66)

12/30/16: Notice of interview scheduled (day 109)

2/1/17: AOS interview (day 142) - APPROVED

2/8/17: GC received (day 150)

Basically this. The United Kingdom, Germany, Canada etc are considered the lowest risk country for immigration. I wasn't in and out of the London Embassy for my K1 interview in about 30 minutes, and about 25 minutes of that was just waiting!

Hello Hanna,

The domicile issue is for a small group of people who are married and both live outside the US. If Mr/Mrs Smith (American and British) lived in London and wanted to move to the US, they would be working on a spouse visa for Mrs.

Part of the requirement is Mr. must provide an I-864 affidavit of support for his wife. The catch is all sponsors on an I-864 must be domiciled in the US. But Mr. Smith lives in London. The work around is showing intent to domicile so the I-864 terms are met.

Your situation as a fiancé applicant and not using the I-864 means domicile is not an issue for your visa.

The new letter of intent is only if your NOA2 expires before you get around to going to your interview. The petition approval (NOA2) will have an expiration date on it--four months after approval.  If you didn't get around to gathering your documents, going to the medical, and scheduling your interview for six months, then London has asked that the US fiancé state in writing again the he is still free to marry and intends to marry you. You would take his letter to your interview. If you interview, as most do, before four months have passed, then you don't need a new letter of intent.

Does a fiancé visa do an I-864? NO

Domicile only a requirement for sponsors who sign an I-864.

if you both live in Mexico, you could have done your processing in Mexico instead of London. However London is pretty easy so not a bad choice.  Remember to order your Mexco and UK police certificates well in advance. Once your case gets to London, you control the timeline so there is no required rush if you are not ready to leave Mexico while you wait on NOA2. They would hold your case a year, not that you want to,stall that long.
