Oh wow nice! Do you know where I find information about that if I Google search for electronic filing green card I get nothing but the original websites again.

Travel.state.gov   (the immigrant visa process)

Ok...so to clarify in case anyone else reads this. Filing the petition (form i-130 and i-130a) online is NOT possible for the constellation of me being in germany and my husband being in the US. What would be possible is if he would travel to germany and we could get an appointment at the embassy but this requires having some kind of special reasons  (I guess for military an upcoming deployment and things like that might cause eligibility for this).

My husband does have to file the petition the normal way as everyone else. However I think the process overview they have on travel.state.gov in fact is a lot easier to understand and shows the process in total a lot better.

As of right now we have filled out both forms (excluding my passport number since I am still waiting to get my new passport with my new name on it) and I have most of the papers I will need.

Another question is tho...Someone mentioned to make two copies of the whole packet ...is this to keep for myself to ensure I always have everything available in case of further questioning by the NVC or do I send them in too?

We made 2 copies.  We sent the original. I have 1 copy in US, he has 1 copy in Jamaica.

Alright you guys....I got some more questions.... it says in the description if a field doesn´t apply to me i have to write "N/A" ....so I leave NO blanks at all and fill in "N/A" in every field that would stay empty?

Second question is...

In germany we do not make a difference between zip-code and postal code. We only have one. So would I write the one in both these fields?

As province and state I filled out what state of germany I live in and in the province field I put the name of the county I live in....anyone here that knows the specific case of constellation german/american and can answer me the question?

Ryan H actually we have been told at the embassy that it is necessary right now to put both of these papers in.

Even a copy of the pages with my stamps from the US since the two stamps in my passport are proof that I have visited the US before.

What is not necessary is passport pictures due to me being in germany.

Is the petition being filed at the USCIS office in Germany or to a stateside lockbox?  If you are eligible to file at the USCIS office Frankfurt, follow their directions.  However, if you are filing to a stateside lockbox, what they told you does not apply and should be disregarded.

At the Phoenix lockbox. My husband contacted USCIS again and they as well told us to please provide a copy of my birth certificate etc. :)

Who did he call, the customer service line which I have seen referred to many times over on VJ as the misinformation line because they give out wrong information on a consistent basis or field office personnel in Frankfurt who are more familiar with overseas filings than they are with stateside filings.

Regardless, it's wrong; when filing at a stateside lockbox, the beneficiary's birth certificate is NOT NEEDED.  If you want to include it, that's your choice but for others who will inevitably read this thread, the correct information needs to be clear.

We had a lot of fields that didn't apply and I put in N/A just in case, since it asks.

I believe in Europe it is referred to as a postal code. I think only the US uses "zip code", so I would put it under postal code. The options are there depending on where your address is.

Putting the county under province is fine. They'll understand. My wife in England put her County under "State" (UK has no states), left province blank, and then put the City. As long as you provide enough information so that the address is clear it should be fine.

EDIT: I don't know if it's true about Germany, but in the UK the postal code is far more specific than a zip code is in the US. My wife's postal code includes only 4 or 5 houses, so really all anyone ever needs from her is her house number and the postal code (Or she can typically put the name of her house, since a lot of houses in the UK have names. On the form though she used the number since it is more standard). Just put in your German address however you would normally do it to make sure there is no confusion.
