I received my email today saying that my I-131 had been approved. I assume that my EAD must be close behind; however, has anyone had a circumstance where AP has arrived and EAD has not until after the interview (my interview is next month)? I've been calculating projected dates for myself based upon those of others who filed at the same time as I did (4/19), and I think it should be here within the next one to two weeks.

Secondly, why are the processing dates on the USCIS website so at odds to what we're seeing in terms of our applications being approved? Obviously, this is a good thing (I like pleasant surprises), but it seems odd that they say they're dealing with cases filed in March and yet we're all getting approvals for things right now.

I've only been a member here for one day, but you guys' stories have helped me a lot. I'm sure you all know what it feels like to believe that you're completely alone and hopeless when you haven't seen any action on your case in weeks or months. So thanks for sharing your stories and creating such a supportive, informative community B)

Florida Guy

My interview was very easy. We came very prepared with numerous pieces of evidence, bank statements in joint names, insurance, etc. We were called in about 10 mins before our interview was schduled, we went in early as the weather was horrible and we didn't want to just sit in the car.

Interviewer made small talk about him being prepared for the weather, I told him that as he could see I was not as I was soaked to the skin. We sat down and he looked through the papers. He asked if I'd been arrested, had or have a drug problem, ever gotten public assistance (had received WIC for USC daughter, not a problem) then asked why we took so long to file, he thought my FBI check hadn't come back as it wasn't in my folder but it was on his computer. We told him we wanted to wait until we didn't need a financial sponsor. He approved I485 & I130, stamped my passport and we were all done.

I even asked if he needed pictures for the file, he said no. He didn't look at any evidence at all. Including the kids interviews we were done in 40 mins.

I'd be prepared for the "why did you take so long" if you overstayed yourself. Other than that take as many joint things as you have and relax :) I was freaking out about it and it was so easy I thought it was a trick (maybe they'd be outside the lift at the bottom laughing, ready to take us for our real interview).

Hope this helps :)

Good Luck to all July interviewers!!

04/02/2007 - Mailed I-485 & I-130 for myself and 2 daughters

04/16/2007 - NOA received for myself and 1 daughter

04/18/2007 - NOA received for other daughter (delayed by incorrect address).

04/27/2007 - Biometrics scheduled - arrived 2 hours early due to overcautious husband, let us go in early and were all done 15 minutes later.

04/30/2007 - All touched.

06/21/2007 - All touched.

06/28/2007 - Initial interview scheduled for all.

06/28/2007 - All approved with stamp.

It's ridiculous how long it takes for them to "work" on an EAD application. It's only one page!

Tomorrow's a holiday too so no activity at the service centres either...

I'll add my 2c - I'm on day 75 as well. Received AP last night, however, which makes me a happy happy immigrant. It'd be great if everyone would add their EAD approval dates when they come in as it provides context and optimism for us still waiting. The AP approval was a nice 4th of July present, though!

I see that many of you are still posting on the March filers thread, and thought I'd start one for April since a search didn't reveal one.

We began the AOS process when our attorney filed on 3/27/07, and docs were sent to the lockbox. They weren't signed for until 4/2, so I guess we can put ourselves in the April group. :D

Let the process begin!

April 7--sent to CA...Debbie and Hamid
