K1 Petition 2x2 Photo Requirements an Questions

Hello, hope everyone is having a good weekend.

How picky are they with photos K1 visa petition? My fiancee gave me a photo of her, it was for passport, however it is not 2x2 it is more like like a 1.5x1.75. Also, it has her name near bottom of photo. It is a little bit older than 6 months, but to be honest I am not worried about that part. Other than that it meets all requirements.

Also, does it need to be signed an dated on the back? Is that a must?

Furthermore, I thought the only time she needed 2x2 photo's is for the interview not the petition? At least that is what it mentions on https://travel.state.gov/content/visas/en/immigrate/family/fiance-k-1.html#6 but then again they don't even mention needing a g-325a an that seems like a must or rfe on this site an other 3rd party sources of wisdom

I searched the forums vigorously for info, but I couldn't really find anything that covers my questions. So much appreciated for any help ole wise one's.

Per the I-129F instructions (https://www.uscis.gov/sites/default/files/files/form/i-129finstr.pdf), you need to provide the passport style photos with the petition. See section 8b. The passport photos must be US passport size and meet the other requirements noted below. It does not need to be signed...just labeled.

"Submit a passport-style color photograph of yourself and a passport-style color photograph of your beneficiary, with both photos taken within 30 days of the date of filing this petition. The photos must have a white background, and be glossy, un-retouched, and be unmounted. The dimension of the full frontal facial image should be about one inch from your chin to the top of your hair. Using a pencil or felt pen, lightly print the name (and Alien Registration Number, if known) on the back of each photograph."

Edit: Just to clarify, you are looking at the K-1 visa requirements in that link. You need to file the I-129F petition first, which has its own requirements. Check out the guide: http://www.visajourney.com/content/k1guide

Passport photo needs to by 2X2.  Have her take a new 2X2 pasport photo, then email it to you.  You can get it printed at walgreen or if you have photo paper for your printer you ...

They would not do this for me.  They said that she would have to be physically present, or else it is illegal.

If that's the case, how else would I get that photo of her?

It sounds like they gave you a line...probably because they don't know any better. Many people have done exactly that without issue.

I personally put two 2x2 photos on a single 4x6 photo and printed that at Walgreens. Then I cut them myself. Cost: < $0.50.

Schedule an appt at a post office near you, they will take passport photos for you, and then you hand the packet to the personal there ... done.

I always do this

I guess it varies by post office. The ones here don't do that and have no equipment to do so.

True  ... I did it at two post different post offices, one in Tucson AZ and again here in Secret City.   I had to make a few calls in Tucson and here to find locations that do this

https://www.usps.com/international/passports.htm

Thousands of Post Offices™ around the U.S. accept first-time passport applications for the United States Department of State. Post Offices that accept passport applications offer products and services for both first-time and renewal passport applications. Some locations can take your passport photo.

Use Find USPS Locations to visit a Post Office with passport acceptance services. You can filter your Post Office search to find specific passport services. Although some Post Offices offer walk-in passport acceptance, many Post Offices offering passport services require an appointment.

Cherrybell  and Valencia are 2 that offer passport services. I originally got my passport done at the Valencia location in 2005 and I see the passport area at Cherrybell when I go mail stuff to Jessa in Davao.

Not that passport services in Tucson is an important part of this discussion! 🤣
