Hello,

I was a little lost over this one as well. This us what NVC'S website says about court records:

Court and Prison Records

If you were convicted of a crime, you must obtain a certified copy of each court and prison record, even if you were later granted amnesty, a pardon, or other act of clemency.

Send a photocopy of each court and prison record to NVC.Bring the certified copy of each court and prison record plus a photocopy to your visa interview at the U.S. Embassy or Consulate.

For country-specific guidelines on how to obtain acceptable court and prison records, use the Document Finder above.

I'm very new at posting, so I don't know how to add the URL, perhaps someone else can give you the website where you can find what I wrote above. You will find what the supporting documents mean in the same url. I apologize for not being able to give u the link.

I hope this helps, though. :)

Scan Date: 01/26

CC: 04/06

Interview Date: Pending

IRS Tax Transcripts can be ordered online or via post direct from the IRS: https://www.irs.gov/individuals/get-transcript It is an overview of your reported income and taxes paid, and I think they are available for the three previous years.

Social Security Earnings Statements are available from the Social Security Administration: https://www.ssa.gov/myaccount/statement.html

It's easiest to do these requests online, but you will need to create accounts with your SSN, possible US cell phone, other info...

Court Records: if it was pertaining to the marriage termination, you would show that it was a legit divorce/termination done by the courts and documentations showing so.

I think going to this website would be useful, it gives you an idea of what you're looking for.

The Civil documents apply to the BENEFICIARY (intending immigrant):

  • Court Records:  Court records if they've ever committed a crime or have been in jail

Financial documents apply to the PETITIONER to establish sufficient financial capacity to sponsor the Beneficiary:

  • IRS Tax transcript (or your or your co-sponsor's latest Federal tax return and relevant W2s/1099s) must be provided to prove evidence of income above poverty limits
  • IRS tax transcripts are preferred by the NVC since they are simpler and easier to read
  • Social Security Earnings Statement can be provided if the Sponsor (Petitioner or co-sponsor) is no longer employed and is using Social Security income to provide basis for sufficient financial capacity

I understand what you are saying, but why does the checklist from NVC say "Petitioner's Civil Documents"?

I believe civil document are Birth Certificate? cenomar? Or marriage contract ? These were the civil documents like. Your petitioner's birth certificate is needed. Original one. Ive been there

The most common and efficient way to deal with NVC is for the foreign spouse to send documents to the Petitioner and the Petitioner to send to NVC, since all the financial documentation comes from the petitioner anyway.  Some of the items asked about may well not be applicable.
