I agree. Killing them with a .223 round was so much more offensive had he shot them with a 9mm pistol round.

I just never cease to be amazed

Perhaps he does not do Metric?

There is a very high likelihood that a pistol would have been sufficient to stop their home invasion. If they were hit, they would have had a higher chance of survival. I think you are still having difficulty because as previously discussed you have trouble seeing the potential outcomes where the invaders weren't killed. Believe it or not, a failed home invasion does not always have to end with death.

Like I said before though these statements aren't trying to say that the young man should have done anything different. We have the benefit of hindsight. At the time there were home invaders, he grabbed what defense he had and proceeded to defend himself and likely did not have a clear idea of what the invaders had as weapons.

Well if someone walked up to you with a sever migraine and someone wanted to do a blood letting, would you even respond

Yes it would be quite easy to do so.

"Um no, that is a practice that was refuted centuries ago for almost all conditions, with very few exceptions"

That wasn't so hard.

.223 is about 6mm......

I blame it on the schools.

Who mentioned the size of the bullet, I never mentioned it.  Lets not have a "bullet" measuring contest.  My point is that an assault weapon has no place in a home.  You can protect your home quite well with a handgun.  I realize that it's hard for gun-crazy people to understand/accept this concept, so I'll be patient.

Ok Saying a hand gun round is less likely to kill you than a .223 is ludicrous and ill informed

Your right it wasnt that hard sorry

Well if a hand gun will do the same exact job as an a So called assault rifle, then why do you have a problem with them having an  rifle.

Size of the bullet is not the only contributing factor. I admit i know very little about guns, and luckily haven't had any interactions with GSWs since medical school (my residency was in an area with relatively low gun violence, and pediatric GSWs are far less common thankfully. Now i work in neonates so it is even less likely).

I would imagine rate of fire, velocity of fire, clip size, recoil could also impact someone's ability to survive.

I feel like a broken record with certain people but... Things aren't black and white. The world is full of nuance if you are willing and able to see it.

Well then, it's easy, don't have what you call an "assault weapon" in your home. No one will mind.

However, what other people have in their home really isn't your business.
