We filed our I-129f form on November 21, 2016, and received an RFE on February 22, 2017 stating the following;

Passport Style Photograph

The photograph you submitted of yourself does not meet the specifications below.

Please submit a passport-style photograph of you, (My name).

(All the info about passport photo specifications.)

---------
Now here's the tricky part. I believe that my partner's photo does not meet the specifications either. But they only asked for my photo.

What do you think would be the best way to approach this? Should I send just the new photo of myself that adheres to the proper standards, or should I send new photos of both of us and a letter explaining why I did so?

Should I just give them exactly what they want and not point out any other possible deficiencies in my packet?

I'm afraid that they will do something like get my RFE, suddenly find they they don't like my partners photo, and instead of sending a second RFE they will just deny it without ever asking for a correction...

I'm very worried about how to respond, so any advice would be helpful!

General rule: Just give them exactly what they ask for. Why do you think yours does not meet the requirements?

If it isn't difficult, it isn't worth it.

Yeah that's what I was thinking. The photo I sent was was taken in a Japanese photo ID booth, but those always have skin clearing effects so maybe my tone was too unnatural, and probably more likely the problem was that the background was blue. Looking back it was an embarrassing mistake to send such a photo that's only okay by Japanese government standards but at least USCIS is allowing me to correct the issue. The thing is that my partner's photo is the same and has a blue background. However, it seems they only had a problem with my photo...

as you say that the pictures of both are the same, just send new pictures of you both,

send pictures of both dont hurt,

just avoid more delay getting another rfe, send a letter explaining why you sent pictures of your fiance also

Were they even US size? I would send both in this case. Write a cover letter explaining that.

So, yeah, they lost BOTH our passport photos. We sent 3 each. I'm sure our photos got lost because otherwise, they would have indicated that our photos did not meet their requirements. What a hassle!

Our photos were in a bag, paperclipped to the bio form. My fiance should have listened to me when I told him to staple the bag on a separate sheet of paper. :(

Hello. I'm pretty sure they are the same. Just go to a photo studio and tell them "US Visa" package and they know it's 2x2. I actually kept my photos and sent a soft copy via email to my fiance since it's faster that way. He got my photo printed when he got his photo taken. Did your fiance say that the size of your photo is different from his? I'm sure he would've said something so you two could make sure you're sending the correct size.. I know my fiance would've done that. Don't worry, you'll be fine. :D

Oh no! I sent my originals the same way your originally did and they seemed to have looked at them. It's unfortunate that your photos got lost in the shuffle...

I keep thinking if they lost it or if both our photos did not meet the requirements as some people here said that might have been the case. However, they never said anything about the photos not meeting their requirements on the letter that we received. Yours did, so I'm very confused. It's pretty weird that they would lose BOTH our photos, so I don't know..... If our photos did not meet their requirements then why didn't they state that in their letter? I might just have my fiance call them to clarify. We already sent our RFE response last week, though. Oh man, this is way too stressful.

"Guess you didn't understand what I said" - If you think I didn't understand what you said, you can explain it to me instead of being rude. I'm not the one with the poor usage of grammar here.

I answered your question. My fiance is the one got my photo printed, so the size of my photo was just the same as his. Besides, 2x2 shouldn't be different in other countries, unless their rulers are off.
