Hey All,

I paid the IV fee today and have (almost) all of our documents ready to go for this week, which is when i expect the DS260 to become available. Its my understanding that the NVC will take either a transcript or tax return/W2 as part of the AOS package. My income for the last 3 years is above what is needed. However, since it doesn't hurt to send prior years' tax info, i have opted to send transcripts for 2014 and 2015 with 6 months of pay stubs and employment verification letter.

My issue is with the 2016 tax return. . . my accountant was not able to file my 2016 1040A electronically so he mailed it at the end of last month. I tried requesting my transcripts from the IRS through their website today, but the only ones available are 2014 and 2015 (as they report it takes 6-8 weeks after the 1040 is mailed for it to become available). I do have a copy of the 1040A and W2 for 2016, as well as the certified mail return receipt.

My question is: 1) should I send the 2014/2015 transcripts and the 2016 1040A/W2, along with the other evidence, 2) do I send all three years worth of 1040A's and W2's without transcripts, OR 3) do i wait another 4-5 weeks for the 2016 tax transcript to become available and send the AOS and IV packages then? I know the instructions state that either/or is acceptable, but the concern is that if i submit transcripts for prior years and not for the most recent year, will that generate an issue?

My goals are presumably the same as many of you here; to submit all my info as soon as possible, while avoiding checklists.

Thank you all

2016 taxes aren't due until April 18th, so this isn't really an issue since you aren't required to show them (though they may ask for your 2016 transcript to be brought to the interview). I would send 2016 w'2 + 1040, then transcripts for 2015, 2014 2013.

interestingly enough the 2016 tax transcript became available the morning that i was preparing to email my docs. so i ended up sending 2016 (as my most current year, and also reflected on i864), 2015 and 2014 tax transcripts. For extra measure, i still sent my 2016 1040/W2. Was approved quickly. I also sent employment letter listing position and salary, and 6 months worth of pay stubs. Sort of seems like overkill but reason was due to my 2014 tax year (i was in school and my income was low).

Thanks for the info as I am in a similar situation where last year my income was really low but current and all other years are good.  I am going to be sending in my info this week, just waiting for the payment to go through and what you sent is what I plan on sending.

I had my CR1 (spouse) interview today in London and they already had my file with my wife's W2's from 2013, 2014 and 2015.  They didn't ask me for anything else, they just accepted what was initially submitted.  After all it was sufficient at the time to get you to the interview stage so it is still sufficient now. Hope that helps.
