I know it's not criminal to have to save up for the DACA fee, and I applaud her for coming out and doing DACA in order to get a status. I actually have a heart for people and their situations honestly, but NOT IF THEY ARE SELF IMPOSED. This case of deportation is self imposed because she choose to go out of status. I am the kind of person that looks at the details of situations and not just the headlines of a situation.

I have seen in the past VWP overstays deported under the previous administration, forget his name...

When I worked abroad and I need a visa to work in that country, you better sure I would not let that visa lapse at all. She let it lapse for some reason.

I don't get that either, if I needed that money to work, you better be damn sure I would get money in order to stay legal. I don't care if I had to pick up a second job on the weekends to get it but I would get the money before it went out of status.

this case of deportation is an example of what happens when ice is given trump steroids. if the entire basis for deporting her without a hearing is that she entered without inspection as a seven year old, well, when is a good situation to demand review? under the law i could see being a stickler on 'entering without review' if the person is an adult when entering, otherwise - it's just heartless and dangerous policy.

It may be heartless and I believe that you are right about ICE being on steroids now. But she did the disservice to herself by raising attention to it at a press conference and they were obviously watching it. I think if she did not do the press conference she would still be free.

maybe, but ice did say they'd be back for her prior to that appearance. 

 

there's a vice documentary that i can't find right now cause i don't have time, but it shows the people living underground over the border. they have nothing and their lives are in america and they have nothing anywhere else. i'm a bleeding heart and can't tolerate knowing my tax dollars pay for these people to be discarded like trash. i consider myself very privileged to have been born in this country and i often think about what it would be like if i had been born in a different country and needed out. if it came down to it, i think most americans - most people - would leave a place for somewhere better if the situation presents itself.
