Hey everyone,

It's now officially 90 days before my green card expires, and I've started compiling evidence in the last two weeks.

We recently moved to a new address a few months ago, and discovered that we can't request an IRS tax transcript online or by phone because of it. Instead, we had to mail in Form 4506-T (Request for Transcript of Tax Return) to request our tax return transcript. I just read however, that the IRS can take up to 30 calendar days to mail us our tax transcript.

My question: would it be ok if I were to just print out the Form 1040s that I e-filed with the IRS, instead of having to wait an indeterminate amount of time to receive our tax transcript? Having to wait makes me a little nervous, especially since we have less than 90 days to file. (I'd also like to file asap!)

You should be able to order transcripts regardless of your move. I've done this myself after moving to a new house (not for ROC but for my naturalization application). I was able to order those online and thanks to USPS mail forwarding, they came to my new address but if you can't order it online, you could always go to the local IRS office in the city and have them print those out for you. No need to deal with the 4506s.

I used HR Block returns for my I-751 because I had no idea what IRS transcripts were when I dealt with it. My application went through fine without RFE but if you have time try to get those IRS transcripts to be on the safer side. Looks like you'll be filing to Vermont Service Center since your signature shows you're from NYC. In case you haven't noticed, they are crazy slow processing I751s, currently over 12-13 months. Last thing you want is an RFE just because of the tax transcripts. Vermont is also slow processing RFEs. So try to get those transcripts when you have time. Good luck!

Thank you so much for letting me know! I didn't realize I can just walk into an IRS office since they didn't mention anything of that sort from their website!

I did hear that the processing time for I-751 is insanely slow, actually from a CBP officer at JFK recently, which was why I also want this to be done soon and avoid RFEs. :/

Yes you can https://www.irs.gov/uac/walk-in-seven-reasons-to-visit-an-irs-taxpayer-assistance-center check item #7. Not sure how long lines could be nowadays due to the tax season.

On the note above, if there is an address change should an AR-11 be filed in addition to an i-865? What are your thoughts?

Yay! Looks like you've found a solution!

FYI (and if anybody finds this thread in the future) -- if you do end up sending in copies of tax returns rather than tax transcripts, be sure to include copies of your W-2 forms as well.

Hmmm....are there any issues if do this a little late?

@svb technically you are suppose to do it as soon as you change address but I think a lot of people forget to do it. So if if you are late, just send the forms with a letter explaining that it was a mistake and you are taking steps to correct it...something like this. I would not worry about it too much

I just wanted to update that I had my tax transcripts printed at the nearest Taxpayer Assistance Center at the IRS quickly and painlessly yesterday. Making an appointment in advance is highly recommended.
