Hi VJ members,

I need your help ASAP, while i was checking my DS-260 inputs i found that i did a big mistake in the question asks about if there is a previous spouse and previous spouse details i answered yes and added my wife's ex-husband details which they are already divorced, however i was not married or divorced before. (The mistake that i thought this question is asking about petitioner status my wife not me the applicant). I already have a copy of my wife divorce certificate in case they ask about it in the interview.

what i need to know: 1. Should i tell the CO that i did this mistake while i filled the form ? or just don't mention anything ? i am asking because it's already passed from NVC and approved.

2. In case i mentioned that i did this mistake in the form while i fill it, Will this delay my CR-1 Visa approval and issue in the interview ? or this will make me put in Administrative processing ?

Thanks,

IR-1/CR-1 Visa

tell them everything

you want to be proactive on this. send an email now so you can prove you tried to alert them to the error before they pointed it out to you. they are much more foregiving if you point out an error you made than when they question you for inconsistencies in the application.

if I were you I would email now about this. call on Monday to tell them this information and make sure to get the person's name of who you talked to. when you go to the interview to bring a copy of the email you sent and notes about who you talked to on the phone and make sure you bring it up first thing in the interview so there is no suspicion of you trying anything from them and you are actively trying to correct you mistake.

good luck

dont worry or panic. we had similar but tiny typo in my graduation year , not like ur issue and after researching the issue.. i found that you mention it during the interview and clear it with the CO , so no worries, just explain it. humans make mistakes .. that what i did.. but my input is not legal advice nor you should follow make ur own decision.  and you may ask NVC to see what they will tell you . but any way YOU MUST TELL THEM good luck

Contact the embassy, inform them you made this mistake with a screenshot of the question and the wrong answer as you can't change anything in that form after it's submitted.

Let them know at interview that you misunderstood the question.  Bring either the original or a copy of the divorce decree.  This isnt a huge mistake and likely isnt a big issue wither if you explaim.
