Thanks everyone for answering my questions. I'd like to share my experience with Infopass and the i-551 stamp should anyone need to know.

1. To get an Infopass appointment, try very early in the morning, like at 5am. I overheard someone working there giving this advice. I tried at midnight too and saw some openings.

2. I went in today to ask about the stamp because I am traveling in February. Technically, I don't need it. My GC expired in May 2017 and my letter, which is dated February 2017, should extend it to May 2018. But I told the officer about the confusion with the extension, whether it extends from the date of the GC or letter, and he gave me the stamp! The stamp is valid for a year from the date it was given and is good for travel and employment.

Hope this info helps. All the best, everyone! :-)

Without looking I think it was last at 28 percent,  which isnt great, I dont even think January filers are at 50 percent yet.  I guess with Christmas and such things slowed down a tad, sure they will pick up shortly though. 2018 is the time for all of us to remain positive as quite frankly I would be very surprised if it is worse than late 2016/2017.

The huge slow down with ROC started just before the election of 2016 and the queues have just mounted up ever since  probably due to panic with DACA claims as would be expected, now the frenzy of claims are coming to an end, then there might, just might be a speed up, so hence 2018 can't be as slow as 2017 and if it is then we need to be questioning why?

Oh right. Equally plausible that they want to delay spouse immigration so we get frustrated and move home....  the approach is working for me and my wife.

The government will resume DACA applications pretty soon. I don't blame DACA for the delays, it is down to the USCIS reactive and unprofessional demeanor. They need to structure everything since they earn the money from the immigrant's fees. ROC taking 17 to 18 months is absolutely ridiculous. DACA is as important as any application and I am not better than any of them but honestly if CSC takes about 18 months to approve ROC applicants that's bizarre.  The link has the details about the DACA resumption;

1. Since I am one of the February 2017 filer, My I751 is still pending like everyone. But with the extension letter they sand me, it will expired on May 2018. I am wondering if they will send me another extension letter? If the i751 is not being processing yet ?

2. If I am go ahead and file the N400 on February, since my husband and me marry more than 3 years now,  can I still working while waiting(pending) N400 if i751 still pending as well?

You can get a stamp in your passport to “prove” status pending the ROC, they won’t send you another letter. You don’t lose status unless you get denied for ROC.

N400 is not connected to ROC, you can apply for N400 if you meet the N400 requirements. However, without approving ROC they can’t approve N400.

I have applied for N400 pending ROC as many have, it looks like they either do a dual interview or approve your ROC prior to the interview. This means it would be good idea to bring to your spouse to your interview.

Hey all

im sure this has been discussed through out this forum before but I have to ask.....if I do not plan on traveling nor working before I receive my 10 year approval, Do I need to still get an I551 stamp? Or would I be out of status as soon as the letter expires?

I don’t think your status expires but the stamp is your proof of status. So you wouldn’t be able to prove status easily.
