Tomorrow, I shall tell you all about my return to the USA. Not a pleasant experience and quite frankly a tad uncalled  for. Let me  say this, it feels like I still don't belong still in the never ending limbo that we call a journey. Rather watch paint dry, grass grow or put needles in my eyes.  I guess they don't realise we have our own woes, trials and tribulations,, plus insecurities when we find ourselves in no-man land. We  can't go back as everyone from home have moved on with lives, we can't go forward as we have to wait, hence no mans land.

I got my stamp at the Chicago office today. The immigration officer said the same thing about the CSC waiting time to me and gave me a 6 month stamp. Did they clip your Green Card? They clipped mine saying that you're only allowed to have one document to enter the country. And since the passport (with the new stamp) was going to serve as that, I couldn't have the green card as well.

Fingers crossed for CSC to catch up. Let's see.

6 months? That will be tight, I probably should wait til end of March closer to the date of my Green Card expiry + 1 year (as per the letter). Hopefully, I’ll get the N400 approved within 6 months of that.

I thought the 1 year letter extended things for a year from the date of the green card expiry, the guy at the border at Detroit told me mine expires 1 year from the letter on the date (which was 2 months prior to the green card expiring).

So my experience at border control, well firstly when I was at Manchester Airport they asked if I had an Esta or GC. I said neither I have a stamp in my passport.  The lady did not know what an i551 stamp was, but she put the number in and immediately it came back that I was awaiting on a decision.

I arrived at Philly went into the middle queue for the people who dont have cards or American passports but aren't tourists either, that was quite quick.  Upon going to the desk the border control did not say a word, I mean nothing other than asking for my four of my fingers and taking my photo. He then shouted over his colleague and gave him that red folder.  I thought are you serious??  Bearing in mind that Manchester could see a case pending.  I said to the border control guy as walking down to secondary, not again!!  Its every time, so I waited, it wasn't a long wait this time.

Then I was called up to front desk and asked what goods I had brought in, I said well bread, crisps, chocolate and stock cubes, but they aren't beef.  One was chicken and one vegetable, I knew beef was banned.  So they decided to send me to Agriculture and subsequently confiscated the chicken ones. I said I thought chicken ones are ok as I can buy those online, but cant buy the beef ones, to which I was told the beef are ok now to bring its the chicken ones you can't bring in.  Wulcum to the USA!   .

My husband was harassed by customs everytime he came on ESTA to visit me before he immigrated. Since he immigrated we've had zero trouble. The last time we left the country to visit the UK was in October 2016 before we started the ROC process and before Trump era. We don't plan to travel anywhere again till he's a citizen due to hostile political environment. We don't want to risk him not being let back in.

I don't think he will have a problem being from the UK. It' just seems to be at Philly I have the problem, doesnt help I once lost my GC at the airport and had to get a stamp and then the next one went missing presumed stolen, until a year later a bar that my friend and I dont remember even going too, sent my whole purse back a year later.   What I dont understand is if its that easy to look up my case at Manchester UK, how come it's not that simple when I arrive in the USA, its not as if they don't have my bio-metrics a trillion times.  Can't wait to apply for the N400 and get an American passport, although that will probably open up another can of worms, as in which passport do I use to fly there and come back?  I know they like you to use the USA one to fly in, but perhaps the UK feel the same too?

No nothing and I did think I would hear something before I came back.  I check USPS each day and nothing, absolutely nothing!!

Only a month before I apply for N400, got to go to that forum and look up what I need to upload.  I don't see many people posting what they attached, not as well defined as it is on this forum with ROC.

It's a year from when your green card expires not the date of the letter. Border people keep getting it wrong. For example, look at page 16 of handbook for employers (M-274) - it says you can use i-797 for i-9 requirements, and explains it's a year from expiration of green card.

Likewise, page 38 carrier information guide explains it a one year extension from green card expiration:

Just FYI, I traveled with the extension letter and it all went fine. The immigration official at the border was not phased, but the airline workers did have to ask their supervisor on two separate occasions. Just a minor hassle and I wasn't worried.

I did it online. The online n400 pretty much asks you which evidence to upload for each bit depending on your circumstances. Also with the online one I think they upload and mail all correspondences.

My office in Ohio says it was processing late May 2017 when they last updated in October 31st. So looks like 5 months for me. I'm expecting June/July 2018 to become a USC. I wonder if my removal of conditions will even be processed by then.

Did you upload your green card and extension letter?
