No, it is not a form. DS3035 transforms into I-612 just because DOS and USCIS work differently and process it differently. Your approved waiver will say I-612 application to waiver foreign residency requirement but that's all. You don't need to do anything else at this point, just wait.

Oh, Ok. Maybe you should have started here. So you got the DOS favorable recommendation and are waiting on the final decision from USCIS. I'd wait until the final decision because mine arrived very fast, like a week after the notice of action. In the meantime, have your AOS package ready to go.

Mine took approximately 4 months! So really it's a matter of luck and that's why I send my package before having the approved waiver, if  I had waited I would have been out of status :) But definitely agree about having the package ready to go.

You are very helpful tamaara! Thank

you! Can I already submit my AOS package even without the actual waiver from USCIS yet? I am kind of hesistant doing it because I read on some sites that i need an actual waiver issued to me first by uscis before sending my application to them.

also if you have any information about this:

since my application for waiver is with uscis already, am i no longer allowed to work inder

my j-1 visa? TIA.

There are mixed opinions on this. I think you can afford to wait a bit and see how the process goes regarding the waiver. I waited as much as I could but still it didn't arrive on time so I sent my AOS package without it and the process has been going smoothly. But if you can wait, I would wait at least one month.

Talk to your responsible officer, to the person sponsoring you. They should have answers for you. I kept working under my J-1 until it my program ended, it took USCIS 4 months to give me the approved waiver. I had no problems during those 4 months. This was my experience, try to do some research with your own university first!

Yes it is based on no objection. It was pretty quick because I bombarded my country's government with messages

on Facebook. It was slow when I applied in my country's separate arm that processes the endorsement to its embassy in washington DC but thank God, after three weeks it was received by my country's embassy in DC. The embassy in DC was so quick. They sent the NOS on the 21st of August to USCIS and then the

USCIS sent me the NOA date

August 2nd but came to my mail on the 28th. Pretty quick.  I hope i will get the actual waiver soon also.

As regards your j-1, is this for teaching or something else? Also, do you have to pay your sponsor every year for your visa so you can work?

My program was a bit weird, I was technically a student and maintained full time student status but I was also working 20 hours for the college as a language assistant.

I did not have to pay anyone. As I understand you are allowed to work up to 20 hours within your university.

Inhave another question. I am using new version of I-485z on top of every page it asks for Alien registration number. I don't have thay number. All I have is I-94 number. Do I write my I-94 number in the space for A-number instead?! Also aside from passport number, the form is asking for 'travel document number as used in last arrival.' I don't know what this is or if I should fill this out.

@j1waiver The 6-8 weeks are from the time everything is at DOS, so it will be 6-8 weeks from July 25. You should be close to getting the letter from DOS. Then, you have to add the time at USCIS.

Thank you @Coco8. I am extremely nervous. I was wondering whether anyone heard anything after Nos arrived July 25th like me.

Everyone's timeline is different, even if they got the NOS around the same date. I don't understand why that is.

My package was completed July 11 and DOS sent the recommendation July 20. But I had started my application back in March.
