Since I have only 1 original W 2, where do I send it to the consulate in the AOS package or to my mom so she can bring it to the embassy?

Thanks!!!

But I thought the embassy needs only original documents? Since I file taxes jointly, but make enough to sponsor my mom by myself-in the instructions says to submit W2...

Hey, embassy needs original documents, but now you are talking about Forms from IRS. Does your financial docs from IRS are signed by you? Or IRS? No? So, it doesn't matter for who you'll send a copy of it.

Original documents are only required if they are SPECIFICALLY asked for.  Signing the document does nothing.....

YMMV

Considering that most people can get copies of their W2s from their work, there really isn't an "original" w2.  A photocopy of the w2 with the tax return is fine for both the embassy and the NVC.  Do not send a w2 all by itself, as it's considered an incomplete tax return and you will likely get a checklist from the NVC if you do so, setting your case back up to 6 weeks.  The only form from the petitioner that MUST be original at this stage is the I-864.

You could consider that original.  Mine are always downloaded from a website as are my husband's.  He works for the federal government.  Regardless, originals of documents are not required for the AOS package, just the signature on the I-864 must be original wet signature.

NVC is really the wrong place to call to get information for the embassy process.  Each of the embassy has their specifics typically on the website.

YMMV
