Helllloooooo VJ-ers!

I was just wondering if anyone here had any pigs? I've got two 10 month old boars called Badger and Fox. They're little rascals but I wouldn't change them for the world. When Andres came over from the US in December he met, and fell in love, with my pigs. He loved them so much he went and got two female pigs a month ago. We named them Athena and Boomer (We're HUGE Battlestar Galactica fans!) and they're most adorable :) I'm getting my two neutered soon as I'll be taking them with me when I move to the US!

And just so this post isn't pure-text, have a photo of my two:

Badger's on the left and Fox is on the chair.

I had a GP a few years ago. He lived for 4 years which I'm told is a long time for a GP. After he died I just couldn't go get another one, but the last month or so I've been looking for another. I want a baby and babies are hard to find around here. :(

Peace to All creatures great and small............................................

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).

We had a ton of pets when our children were young. Gps became a big favorite after we took a trip to Bolivia to buy llamas and the kids fell in love with some they saw there. The only thing is, several of them died from abssesses in the head. I don't know what causes this, but, in the many years since we've had them, there may now be ways to prevent them. You may want to ask a vet about that as a cautionary measure.

I've never heard of that before! Could definitely have been a genetic problem that your pigs had as more than one died from the same thing. Poor pigs :( Thankfully the only ailment my two boys have had so far is a little visit from the mite-fairy, but they're easy to treat and they're being treated for them currently! These little things hide their illness/ailments/wounds so well because they're prey animals that it's always hard to tell if they're unwell :(

We got 2 "female" pigs from the local pet store. We were assured they were both female. Next thing you know, we wake up to my daughter all happy cause they had babies. 3 of them. We farm two out. Next thing you know, BAM.....3 more. Can't get rid of those so I buy a bigger tank. 4 more and I'm done. Gave them all away one day and never looked back. I loved them to death.....even the horny big male. But, in the end, the constant morning squeaking for their food sounded like we had a million of them and I couldn't take it anymore.

Life's just a crazy ride on a run away train

You can't go back for what you've missed

So make it count, hold on tight find a way to make it right

You only get one trip

So make it good, make it last 'cause it all flies by so fast

You only get one trip

They couldn't sex them right?! It's so easy... Males have really big balls. Females don't o_0; They all have nipples though so that's probably where the mix-up happened.

Hehe! I used to have 2 guinea pigs, they were called Rodney and Dell, the names sound familiar?? :P I loved the lil guys! but after about a year or so, we had to separate them because they started fighting, I'm scarred for life now, one day they were like ripping each other to shreds and I tried to stop them fighting, big mistake! I should have put a thick pair of gloves or something, because one of them got my finger and wouldn't let go, and I ended up going to A&E and having 5 stitches in my finger, but I still loved the lil guys! :luv: lol, that finger print with my mutilated scar is on my green card now! they had to pick that one didn't they!

Oh gosh! I know what that's like - My two have been fighting lately (Fox ended up ripping fur off of Badger's bum!) and are now living in a cage that's divided right down the middle. It's awful, but it's because they're going through piggy puberty and so they're really territorial right now. I'm giving them their space and hoping that in about 6-7months I can put them back together into one cage. It's horrible, but I can't see myself giving them away just yet. I have a tiny bit of hope that they'll start getting along again one day! ^_^

And ouch about your finger! That sounds AWFUL! Piggy teeth can be very sharp and it's really rare for them to bite, but when they do....

Wink wink wink wink wink. (that's my impression of a pig talking).

I had a couple growing up, and then we had one a bit later on called Percy, but we renamed him Winky Pig because he just talked and talked all day.

Poor thing got a bad case of the mites and lost his hair and was ever so sorry for himself, the vet fixed him up with a couple of shots, the result being that what we thought was a short haired piggy turned out to be a very long haired piggy.

He was also gay, and more stupid than most because he insisted on trying to have sex with our rabbit's head. The rabbit was not happy with that so the two had to be separated.

You're right, they have sharp claws and can really scratch, especially if you try to give them a bath. He wasn't that smelly though because we'd give him hair cuts and bathe him every once in a while, plus he hung out on the lawn most of the time.

THanks for the pics. I think when/if we have kids I'll get them a piggy or two.
