Ya I agree. I was just stating my observations from over the holiday period. I'm not saying their opinion should matter to us, just stating that if people want a general poll of opinions from a small country town in England...it is generally that this is a bad decision. Whether that is right or wrong is a different question. I was commenting in response to people stating that people internationally are generally "excited" for the Trump presidency. I haven't experienced that yet, in my limited travels since the election. My trips prior to the election I had similar responses (from a wider range of people, I worked at a hospital in central London for a month last spring and it was a common conversation even before he won the primaries).

Ahh ok. Well then I definitely agree with you and I don't know where they get this excitement notion from. Most countries, let alone European countries, are alot more left leaning than the US in general and most people in most of these countries did not want Trump to start with and still don't. Most of them also had a much higher percentage of support for Obama in 08 and 2012 than the support he got here. Talking like 80-20 in most places(some even 90-10) as opposed to basically almost half-half in the US. So yeah, none of it is surprising...

Sadly no. When my wife told people she was dating an American most of them thought she was out of her mind until they actually met me and realized I wasn't like their stereotype. Most of them assume that American men are loud, obnoxious, shallow and not a lot going on in the head.

And that is exactly what I mean, I find it rude and arrogant to claim to understand a different country like some of these people do when in reality, they have no clue.

Russian women say this about American men as well

In order to be respectful to those with a Russian spouse in here, I won't say what I think about Russian women...

There is a stereotype that persists regarding Americans abroad. It might be thought of as unfair, and like any stereotype it is, but for the fact that many Americans can and do behave appalling while visiting abroad. Americans can indeed be loud, which is not always considered an appropriate way to be culturally. In certain places in Asia it is also culturally rude to be loud in public.. and I think Americans should at least try to be mindful of being respectful to the places we visit. We can also be seen as demanding, with little patience. There is a lot that Brits don't understand about us, and much we don't understand about them. I don't know exactly how British women feel about American men, but among male circles, American women are liked quite a bit. I don't think any woman would enjoy a loud, obnoxious, egotistic, and shallow man. And perhaps that is why many are drawn to the stereotypical 'English gentleman' - with traits a woman would be attracted to. Of course there are 'American gentleman' around I'm sure, it just seems harder to find these days. I have been to many different parts of the UK, and the attitudes towards Americans will vary greatly depending on where you go. I had a hard enough time trying to get my husband's family to understand that America is not like what they see on TV, and everywhere is not NYC or Texas. It's just as hard for them to wrap aspects about different countries around their heads as it is for us sometimes.

Israelis also get a bad rep for being rude and loud abroad, but I have to say the loudest group of tourists I have ever encountered are the Japanese....

Also, speaking about the Japanese, I won't forget this one time I was down at the Dead Sea and a group of them came sprinting into the water splashing it all over the place...not something you should really do when you're talking such high salt concentration. If it touches your eyes it's stings to the point you can't see for a while. If it touches your mouth it's the most bitter(bitter, not salty) flavor you have ever tasted. You have to get in real slow and not splash. These guys came running into the water and the next thing you know they are running out of it screaming. It was pretty funny to watch.

And yes, many seem to think that all the US is like LA, or NYC, or Texas, when in reality most of it is the exact opposite.

I have to say most of the Philippines people I have met liked Americans and most Americans act very nice there.

As for people acting like complete Jerk in the Philippines.  Koreans

I have noticed the Koreans there are very rude there.  Funny you see that also

American women are the best. If you are so Alpha as you claim, why do you need to go all the way to Asia?

I went there for business on my first trip. I wasn't aware of much about the country, I had an excellent trip there and went back alone the next few trips and had a blast.

I hope to make a trip to Central America this year and see if it a good time there as well.  I have always enjoyed traveling, it is one of my hobbies.
